I don't know how large it has to be but a couple of taxi drivers I know are running Toyota Auris Hybrid Estates.

Pretty good on fuel.
More room then you would think and you just know it isn't going to go wrong  :y

Nice bit of cheese or some dusty chalk with your glass of red wine. Hummmm.

Got a VW, Audi, Skoda or Seat? I have full Diagnostic software VCDS to read and program your car. Need something enabling? Perhaps full diagnostic? Drop me a PM. Can diagnose in Camberley or Osterley Area.

My neighbour is on his second Auris Hybrid... Apparently costs him two thirds of sod all in petrol... His car prior to these was a Volvo s40, so anything would clearly be an improvement  :D

Auris is a bit small, Not been in an E Class yet,
Still liking Superb
Still liking Jag
Like the fact the Superb is a lot lower miles and nearly new over the jag, but like the jag over the superb, cos its a jag, and the right wheels go round

Could be tempted to have a closer look at this
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201809020082250?make=JAGUAR%26model=XF%26utm_source=Email_a_Friend%26utm_medium=Email%26utm_campaign=Email_a_friend_car
Looks to be missing about 800cc, 2 cylinders and 100bhp.  Then I might consider it, *IF* I could live with an estate ;D

But if it fits your needs... ;)

I nearly posted an M reg one with double that...

The W212 wears miles infinitely better than the W210/211. I put 30k on mine in 8 months with only a ball joint, tyres, brake pads and servicing. ;)

Full memory seats is something worth seeking out as they are relatively rare, but make a real difference to comfort levels...

Oh dear  ::)

Lets look at what's needed here  ::)
Currently drives a diesel tall Astra with a bit of grunt and 2 extra seats in the boot  ;D
Currently driving around 20K a year.
Sprogs growing up a bit so no longer needs that amount of space.
Needs to service / fix it himself.

Fuel prices ain't ever going down  :(
Road tax is only ever going up for non hybrid / battery cars :(
All governments in the future are going to be running a hate campaign against every car unless it has a battery in it.
You can bet your life that insurance companies will start penalising non hybrid / battery cars in the future because they can and the governments of the future will let them  >:(

The car I mentioned is Astra sized.
Its got a half decent boot for its size.
On petrol, its pretty good.
Lots of toys.
Taxi drivers use them so they have to be reliable.
Because is got a battery, the government will leave you alone too.

Yes, you may own a car with a Toyota badge on  ::)
Clarkson may have described them as a domestic appliance  ;D
It might not have the handling finesse of a rear wheel car and they might be boring as opps but as a mode of transport, it does a great job with very little fuss.
Modern Merc's are unreliable as are BMW's.
Jags are nice to drive but were can you really REALLY DRIVE one with the road network the way it is ?

Seriously i'd buy a domestic appliance which would save me overall and not give me grief for the mundane tasks and spend a couple of grand on a 2 seater sports car which once the kids have been dumped somewhere safe you could head for the hills so to speak and enjoy driving  :y :y

All the above is IF its big enough  ;)
