Doubt it.

They do not care how many hundreds of motorists complain about their services and how often they are highlighted unfavourably on Watchdog type programmes.

Many times I have forcefully voiced what I think of them face to face in their garages. Last was at the Ashford garage the other year, when I told everyone listening, including potential customers, how they fiddled their customers and conned them into unnecessary work. Customers walked out, but no manager or member of staff stopped my "assessment" or asked me to leave, because, I suggest, they knew it was all true!

So, complain however you like, but it will make sod all difference, apart from making you feel better! ::) :P

Yes it is.
But you must only complain to their Head Office from the start, not anyone lower.

What is the problem?

I have done to the head office.
Three months later, the said bloke I complained about was in a failed unfair dismisal case at a tribunal for poor standrds of work

no it did pass but got advisories on front tyres near to limit and worn on both inner edges. also i had both n/s & o/s complete sets of tie rods . the garage that did the m.o.t put them on for me. i went to kwikfit for two tyres & the tracking checked. they were wanting to do the tyres but not the alignment.  excuse was possible seizure of tie rods. i did tell the guy that all was new in that job, but he still never wanted to attempt it.

Tracking would not fix edge wear. So maybe they were saving you money.

Not that I'd ever stick up for shitfit.

Yes, whenever I have come across the many comments online from ex-kwikfitup employees they are very unfavourable about how the firm is run and the poor standards that are worked to, with shit managers in charge pushing unfair trading practices, like getting customers to pay for work that they do not need so targets can be met.  What a shower!!  :o :o :o >:(

I suspect the knuckle draggers actually doing the work are between a rock and a hard place, no matter what their morals are.  They are probably targeted to do work by book time - not always possible on older cars when bits seize - and have to get a percentage of upselling.

The solution is for people not to use them, rather than use them and then complain so the poor lad doing the work gets fired for basically doing what he was told.

Rear tie rods probably are seized...

You could always take it to a proper place to get the alignment done... Any local Porsche* specialist should be able to set an Omega accurately :y

*Other specialists are available but this option worked for me :y

One question that puzzles me. Everyone knows the reputation of kwikfit so why use them?

Even if kwikfit offered tyres at £10 each i still wouldn’t use them

I last used Kwikfit years & years ago as they were the closest and were open. I can't remember now how but I ended up with a goosed tyre on my Senator when going to an ABS meet at Duxford and didn't fancy the trip home with no spare. They managed to break my wheel lock key.  :(
I try not to use any of the high st tyre places and use a local independent

No, one of the motoring mysteries of life! :o :o :o

Way back in the days of owner driver Dave Farmer they built up a good reputation, but when he sold up it has never been the same, in fact steadily always getting worse, if that is possible.

But one reason for their continuing survival may be commercial contracts.  A case in point is my daughters mobility car.  When her previous one had it's MOT before being swapped over, the Renault garage told her to take it to Kwik Fittup for a new nearside front tyre as they had an account with them.  Needless to say the local Kwik Fittup guys did not disappoint, as I caught them trying to change the rear nearside tyre instead after being told clearly what was required.  THat was one of my last outbursts at them that I mentioned in my earlier post!

I think the advertising (as TB says, there is no such thing as bad advertising) and general ignorance of the public about what this company is capable of means they carry on.  Their waiting rooms have usually customers standing around waiting, and they are rarely empty; well that is until someone like me shouts out about their shoddy practices! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;)

I use a 'local' firm called Tyreweb, but now owned by Protyre with branches throughout Kent.  They have never let me down in 18 years of using them, and I know many of the guys their by name.  They do what they say they will do, and even honour whatever verbal quote they give you even when it turns out to be a more expensive job.  Now their waiting room is always full of customers, and I have NEVER heard one complaining about the work done on their car.  8) 8) 8) 8) :y :y :y

Yet, in our town there is still Kwik Fittup dishing out what they do!!! ::) :o :o :o ::) ::) ::)

You are, once again, over estimating the intelligence of the British public. Dramatically.

Being a member of a couple of Shaguar forums, the standard answer to any query, such as "what does this button do" or "how do I replace the numberplate bulb" is to take it to a dealer.

Apparently, the fact your get a free coffee and some cake must automatically mean they treat your car well, and charge you an honest price...

The US one is alot better, but may well be model dependant... The older models attract a much higher level of enthusiast/diyer than the financed shit boxes that the kids buy ;)

While most of the general public these days can not or do not know how to open a bonnet these people will still be trading. There are alot of tie ups with the big lease companies as as Liz said Motab car have to go to them for tyres., when me lads motab car needed a tyre when i was still at Vauxhall i couldn't sell or fit one.

As a point this company do not have fully trained techs in each branch but one for an area. If they have anything in that isn't simple service, tyres or exhaust they either will not do it or they have to wait for the trained guy to arrive
