I saw one on the telly the other month .... Salvage Hunters. They paid something like  £6/7k & then spent £30+k on a rebuild - it was a rotbox. Sold it it for £40k

I think £5600 could buy a reasonable house in '73' :y

My parents paid less than half that for their 3 bed semi a couple years before hand.

Always liked the look of those big Fiats , looked like a classic right from the launch there was one local to us back around 1979 always admired it when I drove past in my 1976 Cortina 2000E estate .

Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder so they say....  :-\

If you think that's a looker I'd hate to see the state of the women you chase!  :P  ;D

I have to agree, for my money the Granada coupe is a better looking car, then again few cars made in the 1970's butter my parsnips. Those that do tend to be hangovers from the 1960's.

Yes....I like the look of the 130 coupe. I think Fiat was punching above it's weight by trying to knock them out for £5600 a pop when a brand new XJ6 or Stag could be had for half the price.

...but what do I know. :-X

Even in 3 litre Ghia trim the Granada coupe was only half the price of the 130 coupe.

It did have a touch of the 'lairy Esssex boy done good' about it though.

The 130 had class.......the Granny was just crass. ;)

Surely the Morris Marina 1800TC Coupe was the best looking and best buy of the era?  :y

Had two Granadas , I had a 3 litre Ghia in Jupiter red metallic & SWMBO had a 3litre GL in Roman bronze metallic , both really nice cars , my mate had a coupe in Diamond white looked like the Sweeney was around my house when all parked in the driveway.

I'm a sucker for old fords, but that's probably due to my history.

From pics of my dad rallying MK1/2 escorts to spending good chunks of my childhood being driven round in a Sierra XR4i, they hold a lot of fond memories.  8)

.... 3litre GL in Roman bronze metallic  ....

My MKIII was in Roman bronze .... the colour disguised the rust extremely well!  :y

And I caught a glimpse of a MKI Escort the other day in the same colour!  :)

Did I read that a MK1 RS1600 ( or twin cam) Escort went for £70,000 recently?
