So today with the help of my neighbour I began stripping down the front end of my Omega to sort out the PAS leak.
In the process of doing this I discovered I had a bunch of siezed screws and nuts.
The front off side brake caliper is seized
The Headlamp level sensor has been bodged onto the wishbone with tiewraps rather than transfer the bracket to the new wishbone.
The Condenser core was split (I expected this to be honest)
The Multiram had been refitted incorrectly so one of the rubbers was pinched where it attaches to the inlet manifold/plenum
The high pressure PAS hose I'd picked up yesterday was not going to fit! It had a different fitting on the end and the length of the hose and the angle of the attachment meant it would not line up with the pump, which meant I wouldn't even be able to look at getting a banjo bolt to fit.
I also discovered the front crossmember was heavily corroded. I've spotted a brand new crossmember on ebay but I'll have to ask my step father if he fancies welding it for me!
So I've put an order online tonight for a new condenser and dryer, new pads and discs and wear indicator and a set of caliper seals and I'm onto plan D now with the PAS hose. In the worse case, I have a hydraulics firm in Bolton who reckon they can either repair my hose or fabricate a new one.
Knackered now and ready for bed!
