As a decent morning here in Kent decided to get about replacing both cam cover gaskets as have been getting the odd drip onto the exhaust manifold mainly on the N/S,hence why I have been putting it off.

Original gaskets just coming upto 5 years.(95k) since I last replaced so they have had a good run.

Found both had gone very solid and brittle so not surprising they were having a struggle keeping the old girl dry ::).

Both sides done along with a good breather clean so a nice leisurely 4 hours in the Autumn sunshine.

All cleaned down and no signs of any leaks so job jobbed....suppose I better go to work tomorrow now >:(

Drove it to a speed awareness course. And back again.

Pressed the S button  :o
gave it a warm up, put cataclean in , drove it hard another 20 miles to test suspension etc before turning off the f̶u̶e̶l̶ ̶t̶a̶n̶k̶ ̶d̶r̶a̶i̶n̶ ̶v̶a̶l̶v̶e̶  S button  ;D
then started MOT prep work and spent time adding rust proof countermeasures to the front , plenty more to do tomorrow ,weather permitting
now on 78k and been using it nearly 6 months

Ironic, as I'd actually slowed to the speed limit, as it had been a very long day and I was aware my concentration wasn't tip top...   ...and then it crept up on a long downhill stretch.

Now, had they have got me 40 miles earlier, in webbed feet land, the outcome might have been different.

You would probably been behind bars, with a couple of big strapping farm lads for cell mates.  ;D

Another reformed character, then?... ::)

.. and Ferodo shares have plummeted, as predicted. ;D

Yesterday I gave a man some money to replace the cam belt and tensioners on my 3.2 MV6.  I provided him with the locking kit and the parts.

Today I drove 250 miles, in it. All seems fine.

Nearly at 205000 miles and it was a reward for passing the MOT with only one issue (handbrake).

It continues to leak a little oil. Can't see where from, but think the crank sensor seal might be the issue.  Anyone know the part number?

Found out battery had gone flat again.Doesn't seem to hold charge for as much as a fortnight so figure it's on its last legs. Will charge it up before I take the car for M.o.T. and if it passes then get a new battery.

Fitted a new pair of self levelling shocks to the 3.2. One of the old shocks was leaking so they needed replacing before MOT time. Ordered from Vauxhall but had to wait for them to arrive from Germany.

Had four new Michelin Pilot Sports 4 fitted. Not been for a run yet but I'll hold TB personally responsible if they are shite.  ::) ;D

Tip of the day for removing rear shock absorber bottom fixing without it coming apart. After removing the bolt, wedge a large gorilla bar as close to the bush as possible. Lever it to apply pressure and wedge it against something (in my case it was my foot), tap each side of the bush equally but gently with a lump hammer and after a few hits off they popped, complete with the bush and sleeve all intact.  :y
