Omega General Help / Re: Tyre pressures
« on: 24 June 2011, 15:31:56 »
From what i've seen, most garage pumps have a button to change between PSI and Bar.
Not found one yet that doesnt.

17
Yes that is an option, an easier one.

Can be worth buying a set of cheapo wishbones (£50 a pair ish), and polybushing them first.
(another £50).

Not sure about presses and drifts,
I was under the impression they could be done on the car see, so i would think a press wouldnt be an option in that situation?

anyone else with better knowledge?

18
I've heard of front polys being doe while leaving wishbone on the car.
So it is doable.

No other bushes on the wishbone are available off the shelf in poly.
Just the front ones.
Otherwise you'd have to get some made up for the back one.
Not really any benefit from that though.

As for the Geometry and NOT going by what the computer says.
Reason for that is that the "computer defined settings" are from a factory database which does not take into account the natural sagging of springs etc.

Anyone who knows what they are doing with this car will know better as to what settings will work for your car! The people at Wheels In Motion for instance.
They dont just "get it in the green" like a lot of places do.

Omega General Help / 2.5td EGR vac pipe? what to do with it
« on: 26 June 2011, 15:53:04 »
Having blanked off my egr at both ends, I am left with an EGR valve and a Vac pipe attached to it.

What should i do with this?
Leave it in place?
remove and block?

Does it make any difference now that the EGR is blanked anyway?

 :)

if you pm me your reg, Ill tell you if it left the factory with one or not

Hi mate,
Out of interest, could you check mine?

22
Yeah i spotted those when i was looking.
And that would be ideal....

But i've not got £40 o spend on it right now.
I just wanted to do it for next to nothing.

I think the diesel EGR on ours is not as restrictive as some of the ones i've seen, like those with the butterfly in. So i'm not too fussed on removing it.
Will try the 10p thing. seee how long they last for...not sure if i want melted metal fragments in my air intake tho?

23
An option

But I fear from what I have read that wouldn't last very long
And it wont be particularly neat.

And if the plates are only a couple of quid i don't think I'd mind.

Good to bear in mind tho. If they last.

Omega General Help / Where to get EGR blank plate for 2.5td?
« on: 23 June 2011, 04:20:32 »
Anyone know?

Will the ones designed for the Vauxhall diesels fit?

They are abundant due to issues with their EGR's at the moment.
Especially in newer engines.

one like this for instance: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EGR-Blanking-Plate-Vauxhall-1-9CDTi-FREE-P-P-/230631481636?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b2b52124#ht_724wt_1139

just would be simple if this fitted is all....can't be doing with the hassle of having them made up.

Dynomec in Castleford have a system that's guaranteed to get the wheel off damage free -worked for me

A system?

27
oh yeah,
Thats the one thing i forgot.

A multipoint socket is best.

Lots of impact sockets have only 5-6 points...or whatever it is.
Multi fits better

28
which is basically what i just wrote out in long hand hhahahhaha  ::)

Hi mate,

had this problem when i bought mine as there was no locking wheel nut key with the car.
Mine were shielded locking nuts (had a spinning collar on them)

depending on which ones yours are:

shielded: get a chizel and remove shielding...however you can.

Without shielding (or after removing it):

Find a 16 or 17 or 18mm socket (which ever seems like its the closest fit)
Then basically knock the socket onto the locking nut with a lump hammer.

It will knock on pretty tight, definitely enough to then be able to undo it with a bar.
May find it useful to use a small extension to tap it on.

Also, to remove then, once loosened enough to do by hand, just knock socket sideways a bit and it will pop off.
Any good quality socket will be stronger than the nut and therefore wont split. But cheaper ones will.
Draper expert ones i used were more than fine. Didnt even leave a scratch on the socket.

http://www.superflex.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=SF395-1450K

Thinking for front ARB mounts.
Seems to be same material, just select diameter of the ARB and away you go?
