There has been some here on oof that have removed the chip as is used more fuel.
The Boy would be the best person to ask about the different chips as theres a choice of three :y

Well i say disappointed. I still got 42mpg on a long run. BUT, around town its more like 29.
I'd rather keep it up towards 40 to be honest lol

Well there is my first port of call then.
I'll follow the guide and give it look over.

Also going to fit new fuel filter and fill it with diesel magic.

would this somehow be giving me less MPG too, as i have been slightly disappointed with my chipped figures.

Odd as it may seem,
I have started to notice that when i let the car get to around 20l of fuel left in it (i always fill to brim),
I start to get periodic hesitation.

By hesitation, i mean that sometimes i put my foot down, and i get bugger all back....instead of the usual whoosh from the chipped diesel that i am used to.

Eventually it clears after a couple of seconds, or mins and goes back to normal.

On top of this problem...I also have a starting issue when i let it get to 20l or below.
Usually from hot, but sometimes from cold, when showing under 20l, instead of starting on the button like it normally does with a full tank, it will spin over very fast and i may have to turn it over for 10 seconds or so, pumping the throttle to get it to kick in.

hasnt failed to start yet, but i fear one day it might.
Is this the lift pump?
Or is there something more sinister at play here

Omega General Help / Re: Alloys

You would need these.

http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/category_results.mhtml?category=hrwheeladaptors&car=vauxhallomega&manufacturer=hrwheels&sub_category=1

Would widen the track by 20mm or more and allow you to fit BMW alloys.
though about doing it myself as the BMW alloys are very appealing.

But I've not got £140 rolling about at the moment.

Animal rescue as far as i know.

Omega General Help / Re: Alloy wheel compatibility
« on: 30 April 2011, 00:57:11 »
The lower the offset the further out the wheel will sit.

omega wheels differ form many Vectra wheels for instance in that the equivalent vectra wheel may on have an offset of 49, which makes it sit very far in on the omega.

I Removed mine (same as yours) after a lost key, using the chisel and lump hammer method.
either 16 or 17mm multipoint socket, knocked on after shroud is removed.

dead easy, all 4 done in 30mins or less.

Alternatively, if not chisel is available, i found that just knocking the socket on anyway first will help remove or at least loosen the shroud, and then it can be more easily tapped off.

Yup belt.

Afaik all petrols have a belt and only the 2.5TD I think is chain.
[/highlight]

does that apply to all diesels? or those which were only bmw engines??? :-? :-?

my diseasal Astra G has a cam belt (of indeterminate age  :-?)  ;) ;)
Then i guess its only those used from BMW that had the chains?

Some cars are petrol powered, some are diesel. Some have chains, some have belts, there's no connection between the two;) ;) ;)

This guy got his wires crossed with the previous post.
He was just saying that whatever engines from BMW were used in the Omega....would be Timing chains..

Which is correct, as the only engine used from BMW is the 2.5 td....which does indeed have a chain.
No need to make it more complicated.

just on the same topic....

I just bought a full leather interior from a mini Fl, for my Pre FL.

What fitting issues will i have to deal with in the swap.

My Pre FL is a select model....only has electric height adjustment.

Omega General Help / Re: Window Tinting
« on: 08 April 2011, 06:42:34 »
legally the front windows have been declared as no tint because they have to maintain a 70% minimum light transmission.
Normal glass in the omega (and any car) will not transmit 100% of the natural light through it. That's just how it works.

So say your normal glass transmits 85% of natural light.

In most cases, by you adding any kind f tint (that would be worth adding), you are going to go over that magic 70% line.

Now, the question is, how dark is too dark.
Some cars have a factory tint, and some manufacturers sold cars with too dark a window tint from the factory. Especially older ones!!

As for the uk omegas...i haven't seen one with a tint up front yet.

Would the rear camber readings been affected by the fact i had 100kgs of equipment in the boot and a full tank of fuel?

Omega General Help / Re: hose
« on: 29 March 2011, 22:40:43 »
So it's the hose on the right, that's on the left!!!? lol

even after reorganising it, its still doesnt make sense lol

the hose to left that attaches to the black round this is the air feed...
Nice and simple, and nothing to do with the radiator.
the hose to the right however, is more likely a rad hose.

you will have to pick

Hi, ive a burst hose. It's the one to the right of engine, at the front, behind the radiator. I think its the heater valve hose but i'm not sure.
Its the hose to the left as you look at engine that attaches to a black round thing?
The car is a 1999 2.5 v6 auto can anyone tell me what hose this is?
 thanks

Omega General Help / Re: Rusty Wheelarch, is the end Nigh ?
« on: 30 March 2011, 18:01:34 »
And certainly not the end of a car!! by any means.

As long as nothing structural is hit, arches can rust away.
Come MOT time, just cover them with gaffa tape so there are no hard sharp edges, because that is what they fail on. Not the rust itself.
