Title: BMW engines 2.dti
Post by: mathewst on 28 April 2018, 12:32:26
Just wanted to ask how good are bmw engines in omega if anyone knows?
N ot the old 2.5TDS but the new version with 150HP?
Looking at another omega with this engine.
Seller says he serviced the turbo and injectors recently but asking  to much for a car with 200k miles on the clock and I have no idea about this engine how reliable it is in omega
Regards!

In the UK, we never got the common rail 2.5td Y25DT engines with the 5 speed auto. We instead got the GM 2.2DTi manual.

I've only ever seen one in the flesh here, an import.

Are these the engines which had a problem with swirl flaps/ingesting the grub screws or was that a different BMW engine?

I had one for 10 yrs & had no problems. regular oil changes , diesel magic in the fuel filter housing on filter changes. if mine was a bit slow in starting it was always due to the leak off pipes which needed attention. I also cleaned the intake manifold on a few occasions which meant new gaskets. a range rover dealership was by far the cheaper than vx or a bmw
