Lucky me just came back from 3 weeks away to find the omega elite battery dead so put it on charge and car started fine couple of days later it didn't have enough charge to turn it over,charged it again test voltage at terminals 12.38v went out for 40 miles yesterday and tested this morning 12.16v so lost a bit.The alarm was on but when i went on hols it wasn't just checked out the powersounder and removed but it didn't go off in my hand as i was expecting and as the top nut was not the tightest i guess someone's been there before,so any thoughts of what next, should i recharge and check volt drop for the next few days or your thoughts would be appreciated!!

take the battery off and charge it on an old battery charger not new type, had to do this my self needs to be on charge for 24hrs just leave it charging even when its charged . should be fine. it fixed my battery.. watched it on a video about completely flat batteries, new chargers stop when the volts get to the limit not the amps. they ok to use to top up charge but not from a completely flat battery, any oly charger from 4 amp to 8 amp should do.

I'm the first on here to recommend that you throw the power sounder as far away as you possibly can, but I bet that there will be others along soon to concur!

From what you are saying, I would firstly check the state of the battery as it seems that is probably knackered.
I know the opinion of many is to ditch the powersounder battery, but as with any battery that is knackered / leaking / failing to hold charge etc etc, replacement to me seems logical rather than binning it altogether? On my Omegas, if the powersounder has started 'beeping' at me, or has been totally silent when I have removed the battery terminals (not having removed them within the 15 secs following the operation of the ignition key ::)!!), which indicates the p/s battery is probably 'shot at', I have always replaced it with a new one without further problems.

Firstly, lose the powersounder.
Secondly, if the voltage is over 12v, all "smart" chargers will charge it. Best to remove from car, unless charger specifically designed to charger on car.
If its still discharging, you'll need to check for drains, or if more than 4 or 5 years old, or frequently left not fully charged, suspect a shagged battery.

I removed the powersounder and it didn't make a squeak as i have 2 omega's and i know 1 battery is definitely gone so i need to get one anyway.Any recommendations have seen a Exide premium 72ah or could i squeeze in something a little bigger?

Cut the first powersounder open and it was very corroded and blackish and now in the bin!!

Same with my recently acquired 2.5 elite estate. I thought i'd check to see if the powersounder was still there and to my surprise it was.. so out it came and I too cut it open to find the acid had destroyed the circuit and into the bin it went.

Went out yesterday evening and the battery didn't have enough power to start so i've ordered a new battery as the other is a few years old.I'd come back off holiday to find it dead flat and i'd given it a good charge and checked voltage which was 12.4v but i thought i would check drain but when i checked between battery negative terminal and negative clamp i could hear a clicking noise coming from passenger door area is that normal? What reading should i expect? Will it be zero or higher and when is too high?

Nominal is around 0.2-0.4 amps once the consumer relay has shut down.

If you have a multimeter I would also suggest checking voltage when engine running to make sure it's high enough to charge properly. I also have a drain killing battery on my mum's omega if not driven daily. Was a bad connection where the main alternator and starter cable are crimped into battery terminal. Looked OK but when running and put load on it heated and caused high resistance and major volt drop. Once repaired and battery charged haven't looked back. Eric
