Title: ERE epic everyday tale of corruption in Europe
Post by: Varche on 17 September 2017, 15:10:41
So the EU gave Spain some money . 775 million euros were systemically syphoned off into peoples pockets. To my knowledge the EU did not ask for their (our) money back. Shame as it might have focussed minds in the ensuing investigation of 275 individuals.

After five years of investigation not a single person has been charged and crucially not a cemt of our money has been recovered. It has taken so long that some of the 275 have actually died.

Spain is mired with similar cases and corruption runs deep in the politicians especially the PP ( Conservatives) even Royals not immune.

Sadly this misappropriation of EU money isnt limited to Spain.

Ah you have noticed. ;D

I remember saying back in 2007 who the hell is going to buy all these properties being thrown up. It was like there was an endless supply of buyers. How times change.

Back then the government said anyone who can speak Spanish has got a job come to Spain. A million did from South America each got around a thousand euros to help. They bought flats on mortgages. then the crash came and what jobs there were went to Spaniards. The government gave smaller grants to the South Americans to go back "home". There even was a new word in the language for giving you property key back to the bank and walking away from whatever equity you might have had.

A similar thing happened in portugal regarding eu. They pumped lots of money into the economy because it was crashing due to adoption of the euro, lots of building, lots of new "jobs"and opportunities, mainly for fly by night grant hogs taking advantage of the crest of the wave. Now the economy is in tatters, lots of people lost their jobs due to cut backs. Portugal and other small med coubtries were doing well through tourism and investment because it was so cheap to buy thibgs. Then euro came along and put paid to that.

I remember 20 years ago you could go out for a 3 course meal, all the trimmings and as much booze as you could fill yourself with, cost about 10 bucks, now going out costs same as here, set you back 70 + for a simple night out, and more and that was before the exchange rate for euro started coming into line with the pound.

EU has destroyed all those med economies.

No worries as the Emporer of the EU Drunkier has told us that the member states going all in with the finalization of the EUSSR will fix everything just don't mention the war or the #Brexit £10.6bn hole in the EU budget. ::) ::) ::)

Southern European corruption will be magicked away, crony loans to fellow elites need never be repaid (not that they ever would be), all other stress test loans will be paid back at their book value ;D ;D ;D and if not like two insolvent Italian banks, in 2017 so far, which under ECB rules can't be bailed out with state funds unless the crisis is at 5pm on a Friday, the banks have sold high risk bonds as safe as houses savings schemes to consumers and the states magic money tree have sorted it so all is hunky dory when the ECB doors open 9am Monday. ::) ::) ::)

Asking for a friend, has Spain found a use yet for all of those regional airports that nobody wants to visit? :-[ :-[ :-[

Welcome to the EU world of spending other countries money and accounts that can't signed off. >:( >:( >:(

Drunkier is going to make the EU bigger and better worse. 8) 8) 8)

Thank god the UK in March 2019 leaves the asylum. :y :y :y

Yes, one of them is a wonderful gliding club up in the mountains. :y One of these days I'll manage an expedition there.

Yes, I don't so much have a problem with the proximity to mountains, or clouds. Both at the same time, however... :o
