Another Facelift Climate Control Question
« on: 24 April 2009, 17:18:28 »

A question regarding the Climate control panel on a 2003 facelift, or more specifically, the dark perspex strip across the top with all of the various symbols and temperature displays behind.

Is it possible to remove this strip from the dash to clean it, as for some reason (and this has been like this since i got the car 3 years ago) the central portion of the display has a rather blured look to it.
Symbols showing through the plastic are not clear, almost as if something was sprayed onto it but not wiped off.

Any advise would be appreciated

cheers

I know something you don't! WOW  :o There's a first. (and last)

Yes it is possible to remove it. My 2003 had the same problem and I did manage to get to it and clean it too.

First the radio has to come out and then there are some screws/clips that you can then access to remove the while panel. With care you just have to fiddle around with a knife and small screwdriver to carefully prise off the plastic retaining clips that are part of the perspex strip. A quick clean and it pops back together easily enough.

Similar to this pre-facelift guide http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1162120610

I've only done it once but it can be done and will be 100% better so it's worth the effort.
