« on: 23 April 2013, 21:35:39 »

Hi chaps the heater in the miggy only works if you have it on full blast and then its not that hot.

the temp gauge has also dropped to about 1/4 now

could this be thermostat or heater matrix perhaps

its a 2,6

Probably thermostat ... to test (very easy this :) )

Start engine from cold - overnight preferably
Allow to idle whilst standing with one hand on the large pipe that goes from the thermostat to the radiator.
What SHOULD happen is the pipe remains cold until a sudden surge of heat as the thermostat opens
What MIGHT happen is the temperature rises slowly and continuously - because the thermostat has failed and is stuck open ...

That's the easy bit ...

To fix .....  change thermostat  :)

Dont forget, that you will need new  ( or cut the old ones down ) thermostate bolts.... caused me no end of trouble until this was pointed out to me. ;)
