Found £100 pounds worth of American Express travellers cheques in the back of a drawer.

I suppose when a person has almost 'limitless funds' it's easy to forget about a paltry £100. :)

Well, after a lot of palaver, the local postmistress (who knows me well) had to make several phone calls to get authorisation, cashed them minus 3% commission.
She said if I find any more call in and she will recommend another post office to go to :)
They were at least 30 years old.

According to the online cash calculator £100 in 1989 would be worth £246.74 in 2019.

Pity it wasn't £20 notes in cash then, I would have had £246.74 to spend ::)

Travellers Cheques... That bring back memories. ::) :)
In the late 1990's-early 2000's, I used to work for a travel company and they used to send funds to a bank in Nairobi, where I'd withdraw it in Travellers Cheques.
It used to take rather a long time to sit and sign each cheque when I withdrew £16,000 in $100 cheques! :D
Apparently £16,000 in 1998 is worth about £28,000 today! :o

£16k? Was this the kind of "travel company" that funds young girls trips to western European countries to meet gentlemen? :P ;D

Was that the start of all these African money transfer scams? ;)

Not from that part of the world.. wait, no, that sounds worse. No. :P ;D
Though you remind me of a TV show called "90 Day Fiancé" - Americans importing brides/husbands.. great car-crash TV.
