Omega General Help / Aircon pipe welding
« on: 10 December 2011, 17:56:51 »
Heya all,

a service connector of aircon was shot out by pressure so I decided to repair it. English is being hard for me ergo I made some pics. The job, self, is not a huge amount of effort general tools are needed as you will see on pics.

To make a bit more place to feel free to work I temporarily removed the battery and disconnected one hose of SAI valve.

Slackened the questioned pipe connection, down between two spanner you can see the empty place of gas filling connector (was shot out) as a simple hole.

I had to slacken from the other end too, which belongs to aircon cooler.

On the left is a second hand tank, on the right is the old one. As you see the alu ends don't fit to each other . I couldn't use the second hand one instead the original, so I cut down both end to get me easy to re-pair them.

I was so lucky that outer diameter of one was the same as the inner diameter of other I just had to cut two new screw - inside and outside.

Pre-welding status, seems good but connected by screw only I'm not sure it's enough strong...

After welding and refitting. Dismantling took for 30min max, to put back as well. Being not really a mechanic but electric man I wasn't sure in myself but everything was OK in the end. Hope it will useful for any of you.           Laszlo

General Discussion Area / Six word stories
« on: 02 December 2011, 12:03:52 »
Heya all,

somewhere I've read about Ernest Hemingway who used to bet some dollars to write a complete story - only in six words. He won.  I wrote one too, about my miggy :" Like wife: job done - sometimes striking."  It's not too easy to extract a story into six word so I won't bet on grammatical correctness of my story... ;D But I suppose it's very good fun. :y Do you have any?  ;)

Omega General Help / Starter ability (max starter current) of battery
« on: 01 December 2011, 08:34:42 »
Hi all,

I would like to swap my battery but don't know exactly how many amps starter current required is in case of my 2.5 pre. Some of you have already been so nice to answer me once but I'm afraid of didn't manage to get myself understood properly. Well I'll buy a brand new battery , 70Ah capacity, three version are offered by Opel Database though, namely : 70Ah and 550A max starter current, 70Ah and 680A max starter current, 70Ah and 880A max starter current. There is significant difference between the prices of first and last one, dimensions are the same. So, what sort of battery do you use looking at the starter current ability?

Thx   Laszlo

Omega General Help / 65Ah battery starter current
« on: 24 November 2011, 22:18:18 »
Hi all,
thats ok that 65Ah battery recommended but how many amps of starter current ability does it need ? I'm using one of 74Ah with 680A starter current but doesn't work properly so it's time to swap. As my intention is to save as much money as possible I wouldn't like to pay for one which is oversized and overpriced...Please let me know what starter ability of battery is the best choise for her...   2.5 V6 preface aircon

I have an old style Miggy with an old style gas equipment maybe a first generation of Lovato from Italy. Unfortunately in gas mode it is not enough strong when idling and I often feel as if she didn't get fuel and wanted to shut down. For example if I'm steering to the max to any direction or aircon is starting...Actual idle of mig is 600-650 rpm I guess it must be good. Or should I get it increase in LPG mode? Or should I get her a conversion from mixer to sequencial ?  Could you propose me anything? Many thanks  .       Laszlo

General Discussion Area / Smallpox parties - is it right?
« on: 15 November 2011, 07:28:58 »
American parents continously organised so named smallpox parties to their children. As they said their goal is to help easy and fast pox infection to each other. "The fastest the best". Following this way of infecting they can spare a lot of time and money, so many different event can be organized previously for the time the child ill... - I can't decide whether if they known about preventer vakcine...???
