My car was breathless above 4500 RPM and suffered with lots of fan whine.

Made a good British sports car noise though. :y

Having driven a standard TR6 I can say with a degree of confidence there is no way they produced 150bhp.
I drove a race tuned version about 15 years ago and that felt like it might just about have 150bhp.
Handling on both cars was atrocious btw.

There's no way an Essex made 135bhp either. It was similarly breathless at 4500rpm. Both weigh about the same as a small moon too.

There is no better sounding engine than a straight six :y

Yep, the Essex was a dog of an engine. I have a vague memory of a magazine (cars and car conversions ?) testing one on a dyno and it produced around 105bhp.
It seems Ford were well known for telling porkies about engine performance in the industry.
They had a great advertising department though, so it didnt hurt them.

Sorry Nick but there’s nothing ever been in existence that can match the sound of an early 5 cylinder force fed S1 Audi Quattro (preferably with Stig Blomquest at the helm) in my opinion of course👍

Probably the sound of the straight cut gearbox rather than the engine ;D

I have owned single/twin/triple/straight 4 & V4 bikes. Owned straight 4, V6 & V8 cars (not to mention not learning to drive a 2CV)

Never owned a straight 6.

I keep thinking I should get myself an Australian Ford with the 4 litre straight 6 "Bara". With a turbo. Just because........

Being able to import a nice one on the ferry will help keep the cost down, so rude not to :y

Or buy a BMW ;D

Ah yes. The Falcon's are the straight 6's I think?  ???

I had my heart set on a Falcon Wagon when I was in Oz, but ended up with a Mk4 Cortina estate.  :-X    ;D
