Just died under acceleration, check engine light is very dim and when I try to start the tach jumps to 2000 rpm instantly. Halp!

Basics first.

Check the battery.

Check the positive terminal cable crimps for security/ high resistance.

Keeping the power on for a while allows me to finally connect to the engine ecu with "My Naff Code Reader", everything else connects fine at all times. Engine ecu only shows like 9V coming to it so maybe its only a loose connection somewhere or something.

Tips are welcome where to look first.

Put a voltmeter across the battery, what have you got?

Plenty cause the car turns over just fine and every other ecu is getting 12V+

Check the ecu earth cable is secure and that the ecu fuse above the battery is corrosion free and secure...

ECU is getting full 12V and all earth connections to the ECU plug also are fine yet ECU still only shows low voltage if/when I can connect to it...

Well apparently it is grounded by one of the wires next to the coil pack, found that one loose as I suddenly saw increase in voltage when shaking things around.
Tighten them down and runs fine now... So weird that the ground connections still showed 12V but I guess when there was more load the voltage dropped due to bad connection so the ECU itself didn't get enough power...

All is well!
