Omega General Help / Cleaning MAF
« on: 20 November 2008, 12:44:38 »
As posted yesterday, i have done the paperclip test and got the 74, 73 error codes.
Now is it possible to clean the MAF or do i need to replace it. Stillnot sure if this is an intermittent problem or one that needs fixing perm.
Would the cranks sensor throw up these fault codes as well, or have past posts i have read been incorrect.

okay are we saying that the 73 and 74 codes are not always the fault?
I am slightly confused why the paperclip test will be more accurate then the RAC laptop that was connected?
If it is the MAF, what codes should i get with the Paperclip test, the same.

Will this be an intermittent problem, ie, will the car run okay one day etc and then not. Sorry to ask loads.

Thx

ok the plot thickens. Been out to car. started no problem, no EML, idles normal but a slight flat spot when revving slowly.
Disconnect what i thk is the MAF plug, EML on and idles slightly higher.
I take it the MAF is on the pipe that goes to the airbox?

I have also checked this site and point to crank sensor. Are these easy to replace and how much are they. Any ideas on part number

I saw the codes on the RAC laptop.
I got a tow back as it was in the middle of nowhere.
It is a 2.5V6, i havent disconnected the MAF, but i suspect this is a cranks sensor.

Any ideas?

Broke down on way home tonight.
Called the RAC, error codes 73,74 came up.
The car is running like a bag of spanners, sounds like a bad misfire.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience in getting this fixed. It points to air flow etc

All help would be grateful.
The car basically looses power and maybe someone out there has had the same problem.

Many thanks

Laurie
