Omega General Help / Automatic gearbox message
« on: 15 October 2008, 10:53:01 »
This morning when driving to work, the MID displayed automatic gearbox error.
Obviously this put the car in limp mode until i got to work. I then turned it off, then back on and all workig fine.

Is this a dodgy sensor? Do i need to do the paperclip test or has this been covered alot before.

Many thanks

Omega General Help / tyre noises
« on: 22 September 2008, 19:25:42 »
hi
do cheaper tyres generally give more road noise?
I have some cheap ones on mine from previous owner, and think these cause a lot of road noise.

front wheel bearing relaced, but still got slamming on front wheels. it is like having a front wheel drive care and pulling away fast. i am now lost as to what it can be.

I have checked tyres.
wheel bearing replaced.

Is there something else it could be? imagine a front wheel drive cavalier and pull away from stand still as fast as possible, i get that kind of experience.

thx

i have noticed a little ticking noise when cornering, the droning seems to go when over 65mph. i checked the tyres as i had this on a freelander and the noise was due to flat spots on the tyres. I am pretty sure the bearings are at fault, but need to get it checked i guess.

Thanks for the info, very helpful.
Are the horns easy to locate on the passenger side??

i have tried the spare and got the same noise so i suspect it is the wheel bearing. the slamming is strange, the breaks are okay and how would that affect it??

thx alot

Also, does the omega have twin horns, sounds like mine is only running on one horn the passenger side.

Omega General Help / wheel bearings?
« on: 13 September 2008, 18:07:45 »
I have a droning noise from the front passenger side wheel, i suspect it is the wheel bearing, is this the case?
Also i notice when at a stand still, if i pull away quickly the front wheels slam, almost like a front wheel car wheel spining. Is this bearing related. My old omega never did this, so i guess it must be related in some way.

Also i need a front passenger headlight washer, anyone got one?

Any help most welcome

cheers

Omega General Help / replaced dash bulbs
« on: 20 September 2008, 15:57:55 »
I have just replaced dash bulbs and i now have on startup, washer fluid and coolant message on screen. I believe this may be a loose connection on refitting the dash, as i have checked the levels and all correct. Is this a common issue.

thx
Also the blubs fitted are 3w, is that okay, as i have seen they have been 1.2w in previous posts.

Also are the tech 2's worth buying? Do they actually help in diagnosing problems?
