Now that i have had the Laguna a weeks or so i think i can rate it now,
EconomyFilled it up today for the 2nd time, the book says its a 70 litre tank, but, i could only get £57 in it @ 99.9 per litre, last time i filled it i only got £57 in it at the same pump at the same price, the milage between the two fill ups was 405 miles, that actually equates to about 32-33 mpg of mostly town driving 80%-20%, i think thats very good for a 1.8 engin, i am quite pleased with that, the car drives well and holds the road better than the mig did, but its lighter a lighter car. but the mig delivers 19 mpg round town which is most of my drivin
comfortthe seats are semi leather and quite soft, there is no lumbar support to speak of but that has only niggled mrs bbm initially to start with, the mig was comfier to sit in and moe spacious, but where the Laguna comes in if the driving position is better, not only can you adjust the steering wheel up n down but it can be moved closer to you if needed, i feel comfier in the mig in either the front seats, but the laguna is comfier whilst driving.
usagethe Laguna is more useful due to the hatch.
looksThe mig beats the Laguna hands down, altho people i talk to say the looks of the Mig is dated, but thats personal preference, i liked the mig.
safetymig got 3 star ncap safety rating
http://www.euroncap.com/tests/opel_vauxhall_omega_1998/53.aspxLaguna got 5 star rating
http://www.euroncap.com/tests/renault_laguna_2003/158.aspxpersonally, the safety of my passengers is valued above all, so this is the clincher and will probably persuade me to keep the Laguna
power
1.8 16v vs 2.5 v6....no comparison really.
ReliabilityThe mig is known for being bullet proof but the Laguna has a history of leccy probs,
Imagepersonally think the mig has a better image. but thats not what image is, its what other people think, MOST people who know me and know the mig i had actually prefer the laguna and say its more modern looking and some said its better for the nevironment.
icewell, i have always liked a good head unit (stereo) but left the migs alone and completely original. but the Renault is being replaced with a JVC mp3 head unit, so the mig wins this one
toyscdx v dynamique, both have climate control, cc, obc,
mig has phone, laguna has blinds, pretty equal really
cup holdersmig 1, Laguna 5
they both have things going for them but the Laguna takes the edge i think, the part that swings it is the ncap ratings, so i think the laguna stays.
for now
