Title: Changing radiator with gearbox fluid cooler
Post by: bestseany on 14 February 2007, 19:41:48
I've just bought a radiator off ebay to replace mine, as it's slowly leaking coolant (white crystals forming at the side and losing half an inch of coolant from the header tank a week).

Due to mine being an automatic, I've got a transmission fluid cooler built-in. Is there any special procedure to follow when I change it over. Do the cooler pipes just unbolt off and then bolt on to the new one?

I gather I'll need to top the fluid up in the gearbox afterwards?

They do simply unbolt and then bolt onto the replacement.

Easy enough to do and oil loss is minimal, I place the finger of a rubber glove over the pipe union to stop it syphoning out whilst removing the rad.
