Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Blower Fan
« on: 14 November 2011, 11:36:21 »
The blower fan has started making a terrible noise, like a hammer drill, when on high speed.
On low speed it is quiet.

Everything else related to the blowers works. Such as direction and temp control.

I have got the glove box out and the motor is vibrating like mad but the fan has no play in it at all.

What with the seemingly uncurable random misting and now the hammer drill trying to combat the misting I am starting to lose my sense of humour. Driving home at midnight, thick fog, sudden misting and then the hammer drill ha ha  ;D ;D

Any ideas about what is causing the fan noise and how to cure it  :y :y

Omega General Help / Misty Windows ...
« on: 30 October 2011, 01:05:53 »
Windows rapidly misting up any time of day. Turn air con on and they quickly clear. Turn air con off and they mist again. The cabin smells during this time and I am getting a small amount of loss from the header tank. This is at its worst with a hot engine.
The Cabin filter is new, the scuttle is clear and the boot vents are clear.

I am thinking heater matrix. Any other thoughts or suggestions  :y  :y

General Discussion Area / Garden fence
« on: 08 October 2011, 19:27:42 »
We live in a semi detached property of which our neighbour and I own the respected halves.

Between the two properties we have a fence. It consists of 8 x 6' x 6' panels with wooden posts.
The fence is knackered and it needs replacing.
The problem is we are unsure who owns the thing. After looking at our deeds I am non the wiser. The deeds state that any fence/hedge we are responsible for the maintenance or replacement of is marked with a 'T' on the plan.

No such 'T' exists on our deeds plan.

I want to get this sorted out without upsetting the neighbour (easily done, she is a single parent and constantly pleads poverty
::) )

Any ideas folks ???

General Discussion Area / Police work can be entertaining
« on: 08 October 2011, 13:28:03 »
Police work can be entertaining as well as dangerous .

In summary, the police arrested Patrick Lawrence, 22 year old white male,
in a pumpkin patch 12.01 a.m. on Friday.

On Monday, at the Gwinnett County (GA) courthouse, Lawrence was charged with
lewd and lascivious behaviour, public indecency, and public intoxication.

The suspect explained that as he was passing a pumpkin patch on his way home
from a  drinking session when he decided to stop, 'You know how a pumpkin is
soft and squishy inside, and there was no one around for miles or at least I
thought there wasn't anyone around' he stated in a telephone interview.

Lawrence went on to say that he pulled over to the side of the road, picked
out a pumpkin that he felt was appropriate to his purpose, cut a hole in it,
and  proceeded to satisfy his alleged need. 'Guess I was really into it, you
know?' he commented with evident embarrassment.

In the process of doing the deed, Lawrence failed to notice an approaching
police car and was unaware of his audience until Officer Brenda Taylor
 approached him.

'It was an unusual situation, that's for sure,' said Officer Taylor. 'I
walked up to Lawrence and he's just banging away at this pumpkin.' Officer
Taylor went on to describe what happened when she approached Lawrence   .

'I said,  'Excuse me sir, but do you realize that you're having sex with a
 pumpkin??'

He froze and was clearly very surprised that I was there, and then he looked
me straight in the face and said...

'A pumpkin? Goodness! ... is it midnight already?'

This was in the Washington Post ... the title of the article was 'Best Come
 Back Line Ever.'

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / MID, Stereo and steering wheel
« on: 26 January 2011, 14:23:02 »
Before I start poking around in the dash. Has anybody found a way around this problem.

I have an after market stereo fitted with all of the correct wiring (inc. a steering wheel control interface).
I have one wire coming from the stereo side of the loom which plugs into the car loom. Its blue with a bullet connector.
If this wire is unplugged the MID tells me the date but does not light up the steering wheel controls.
If I plug it in the date is not displayed but the steering wheel controls are lit up.
This happens when the stereo is on.

Does anybody know how to make the date stay on and the steering wheel controls light up?  ::) ::)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / New HID bulbs fitted
« on: 13 January 2011, 15:05:38 »
As requested by members here are a few pictures of my new HID bulbs.

The Ebay one was an utter failure, it did not even strike.
The Osram one is OEM and is getting on for 11 years old.
The Phillips is the new one which work perfectly.

The near side has a new Phillips fitted and the off side has the original Osram fitted. The new Phillips is clearly a whiter light but I don't know whether this is down to the deterioration of the OEM bulbs.

I got the new Phillips bulbs from HUDS4U. They arrived within three working days and were well packaged at £57 for the pair  ;)

I hope this help you all out. :y :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / HID Bulbs
« on: 05 January 2011, 18:02:04 »
The new bulbs arrived today so I fitted them.....what a job. But done with care  :y

Any idea why they do not strike up as soon as I turn the switch. I have to wait a minute or two before they will strike.

The old ones struck immediately on the switch albeit one had gone purple  ::)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / HID Bulbs
« on: 29 December 2010, 23:25:27 »
Turned on the lights tonight and the OS HID has developed a yellow tinge. It starts white and goes yellow.

Is this just a failing bulb or something more serious?

If its just a bulb, anyone got any contacts for new ones and which ones do I search for?

Thanks in advance folks  ;) :y

Help!!!!!

My MID has decided not to turn itself off after removing the key from the ignition  :-?
It sits displaying 'outside temp' plus the temp and the time  :-/
Also the date has disappeared and only displays whilst the 'R' button is pressed on the wiper stalk  :-?
The date appears and can be altered using the MID buttons but vanishes again  ::)
Only noticed after plugging in the caravan (S and N socket). Never been a problem before and might not be related  :(
