Omega General Help / Dash Bulbs

Just popped the dashboard out with a view to changing a main illumination bulb (in a large yellow cap).

What is this bulb called ?

Whilst I was in there I remembered that I will be fitting a towbar in a few weeks.

The bulb which warns about the trailer turn signal is the same as the other warning bulbs (in an orange cap).

Is this bulb a 509T ?

Next to the turn signal warning is another empty socket which warns about seatbelts. If I put a bulb in there would the thing actually work ?

Does anybody know what the bulb is called which illuminates the clock and temp pod in a Corsa B. I can get one for SWMBO at the same time

All help appreciated. Off to Halfrauds in the morning.

Omega General Help / Auto Gearbox Problem

Hi Guys and Gals

Normally, my geabox behaves perfectly. Initially engages both forward and reverse, changes gear when it should, drops into OD, sports mode works well

and slow snow mode works well

.

Twice now in the last two weeks it has decided to play up in the following way:

Travelling at less than 35 mph (2nd gear?) the car jerks a little, the dash gives me the "Automatic Gearbox" warning and the car looses its pulling power (thats the car not me

). It also will not let me use sports or snow modes after this fault.

I pull over, stop the engine, restart and all is well. No warnings and all the power back. Sport and snow modes back online so to speak.

I have done the paperclip check and no faults are reported.

FYI I have not as yet changed the fluid.

Any thoughts on this ??

Omega General Help / Brake pad warning

Just put new pads (Vx) in all round. Car drives fine and stops fine. Just one annoying thing.

Why the blazes is the car telling me it wants new pads...............

The message is not there all of the time. It chooses when it wants to appear. No pattern to it. But mainly on first start up then goes out......sooner rather than later. Some times when I switch off the engine it appears.

I did find that the old pads were so low upon compressing the pistons a lot of fluid was returned to the reservoir. This I syphoned out when too high. Could I have too much fluid in there ?
I was very careful with the sensors when I changed the pads.

Any ideas :question :question

Omega General Help / Multirams

The other night Mark DTM sorted out my multirams and showed me them working. Grand job he did too.

So I know they were working when I left him.

Now they don't seem to be working. I think.

Can someone let me know how they work and what should happen when I blib/rev the engine.

(It might just be me)

Am changing my oil....

How does the blessed oil filter come off.

It is the type containing a paper element. Got it nice and loose but seems to just spin on its threads.

Been spinning for ages now. Either its an improbably long thread or

I have plenty of experience with motors (last owned and maintained a mint 2.8 Pajero)

Could you guys give me any tips on the Omegas oil change. E.G. best oil and filter ??

Is it advisable to flush the V6 when changing the oil or use any other additives

A product I have used in the past is Protec flush. They make many products along the same lines.

Omega General Help / Windscreen Washer Jets

My nearside is like a fountain which is great as are the headlamp washers. The offside windscreen washer has a problem.

It barely dribbles, I could wee faster.

Could someone tell me if this is a common fault and how to get to it under the scuttle and how to cure it :question :question

Omega General Help / V6 cam belt kit

Am planning the cam belt change on the car.

An OOF member has very kindly offered to help me out with this.

I am looking for the best price for trusted parts. Vx can do me the kit for £130 inc vat.

Does any body know of a cheaper deal anywhere. Internet or trusted ebay sites?

Can anybody tell me how to remove the dash. Need to replace one (all) of the bulbs which illuminate the speedo etc.

Been signed up to OOF or a while now. Just got round to introducing myself.

I am in Lincoln and I see there are a few members near me.

I do not own an Omega yet but having owned three Vx in the past am looking or another. Would like a 2.5 elite saloon.

First was a Nova

Then a Cav

Now SWMBO has a Corsa

I will keep my eye on the for sale section here. Something might come up.....I hope.
