Just been chatting to Admiral and they recommend their multicar policy.

We run two cars, A 1997 Corsa and the 2000 Omega
Individually, the cars insurance costs are as follows:
The Corsa £250 fully comp for the year
The Omega £366 fully comp for the year

With multicar the costs are:

The Corsa £166 fully comp for the year
The Omega £200 fully comp for the year

Both policies are identical

This seems a very good deal to me.
Any comments, thoughts or experiences with this multicar deal I would be keen to read

I have Admiral Multicar - so far my only experience is swapping details around as I've bought & sold cars; that's been smooth and easy enough.

I have, however, read many worrying thinly veiled references to Admiral's general performance should you try and claim on the policy..

They, and Aviva, won't cover ex plod as they aren't a model listed on their database not even with the reg...

Mind you my current insurers show it as a 3.2 Elite Auto Saloon

Biggest down side is that they bring the renewal for all policies into line at the same time

We were with them (until I went onto trade policy) and they were quite good. Very helpful when SWMBO had a claim too, although there was no other party involved so was only own vehicle damage

We used Admiral's multi-car policy a few years back, they were good when we had a claim for a written off car (3rd party's fault) However, they seemed to lose their competitive-ness at renewal

Thats pretty standard for most insurance companies. They rely on people renewing almost automatically.

I know. And by default, the policies are set up as a continuous policy  ie 'your insurance in due soon, you don't need to do anything etc etc' but not in my house!

Both my ex-plod Omegas are insured with Admiral on a multi-car policy - took a little hassle for them to get the manual 3.2 done, but in the end they got it right with no change in premium...

Tried to get a quote on line, but got halfway through and stopped at a note saying 'Sorry, but you need to phone' spoke to a real live human being, who simply stated "I can't give you a quote because the car is not in the database"

Might try again when the time comes

We tried this for my mum to insure her 4x4 winter car and a little shopping car but ended up getting a fair bit cheaper on 2 individual policies from a different company, before eventually getting her on our business policy. But, my mate with several very expensive Itallian and German toys (I'm not jealous or owt) reckons Admiral multicar saved him hundreds. So other than "shop around" I'm not sure I can be of much use in this discussion...

Thanks for the input folks, all very useful 
After shopping around I have found that I can about match policies price wise but without the benefits Admiral are offering.
So I think i will go with it this year...
Next year is another story

Admiral are the biggest bunch of womans bits in the history of insewerants


long and involved story ending up costing me a rather fortune,  and being followed up with assorted financial ombudsmen


will never, ever,  ever buy from ANY of the same bunch of useless breaktards ,  Bell Direct,  ~Churchill,  and a heap of other "brands"
