Is it that long ago, it doesn't seem like it! That was 2 house moves, one budgie, 5 dogs and numerous Tropical Fish ago!
We were sat at home when his death was announced, there will never be another anything like him

By `eck, can`t believe it was that long ago...it is / was a great loss of a showman, singer and personality, I was absolutely gutted when I heard the news dont forget I was nearly 50, hardly some teeny bopper, had followed them from there early 70`s stuff, got virtually all the stuff they ever put out,
Bohemian Rhapsody is still the greatest record ever....

I was at university.

I remember watching the news on a ruddy great old TV that I found dumped in someone's front garden. I'd lugged it back to the halls of residence, removed the weeds that were growing out of the back and nursed it back to health.

He was truly irreplaceable, as time has borne witness.

Mrs Michael here., my brother loved Queen, freddie was his idol, sadly my brother died 14years ago, we had his headstone done with the emblem off the album a night at the opera, had to have permission to do that. That would make him smile, and hopefully he knocking out a few more good tunes with freddie! his favourite song was, dont stop me now, played it at his funeral. yea freddie was a great singer, a one off.

I do not feel like so many do obviously here about Freddie Mercury, probably because I was of the previous generation.

However I know how you all feel as I felt that about the murder of John Lennon in 1980.  When it came across the car radio (in a Cortina Mk5 Estate) I was gutted, and just cried and cried.

John, and the other Beatles had been part of my early life since the age of 10, and losing John, especially in that way, was devastating. It was like losing a close member of my family.

So, yes, remember Freddie and John.
