I dunno about Corona virus Europe, what about Africa?  ???

It could be utterly devastating if it takes hold in rural areas of countries like Uganda, Zambia, Malawi or Mozambique where there is little or no healthcare.  :-\

Or the slums of the big cities like Nairobi or Jo'burg.  :(
Population reduction anyone?

Maybe it was released on purpose?   :-\ ::) :-X

it's a pathetic weapon that is hard to catch, gives most victims the sniffles for a few days, and has a mortality rate of only 2% in the worst area affected. You would want something a lot more effective if using a bio-weapon.
Ah yes, but those 2% are all pensioners. A great money saving idea.  :y

So Matt Hancock has said anyone returning from Italy north of Pisa should self isolate. How is that going to work? Sick note? Pay?     sorry cant come in to work as I have to self isolate.

1000 guests at a hotel in Tenerife in lockdown.

My employer's HR department actually has guidance to do exactly that. Work from home, self isolate, full pay. I believe our entire Singapore office has been ordered to do exactly that until further notice.

Corona virus is nothing. A couple of weeks from now it will be barely remembered.

In the good old days we had proper pandemics like the black death and spanish flu. :)

Over a third of the people globally who have caught it thus far have fully recovered*.

Three people in the whole of Spain have it, one of whom is Italian, more chance of suffocating from dust than catching it.

Continuing unbiased, unhyped facts available here...

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

*Incidentally, this equates to 2/3rds the population of Worthing.  ::)

If it takes hold in Worthing the mortality rate will be close to 100%. Most of them have only got a couple of weeks anyway.

That is comforting to know.  Let us review it in a few weeks time. :-\

The Spanish flu pandemic in 1918 killed 30-50 million.

So far the CV has killed an elderly couple and their pet whippet, Eric. :)

That was over a couple of years, January 1918 - December 1920.  They didn't have quick and easy travel like we do today, and look how that spread around the globe, even to remote Pacific Islands and the Arctic.  ;)

Covid-19 has only been around for a couple of months, so give it time!  :)

Yes.....I believe the death toll in Italy has now reached 10. ::)

Rather less than have choked to death on a piece of pizza. ::)
