Mainly cheap processed crap, although some of it is quite tasty.

The Harry Ramsdens cod fillet is spot on and, at £5 for two, I'll save 50p. :)

Fishy fingers or fishy fanny? Neither are to be sniffed at in my opinion. :-X

Fishy fanny......once you get past the smell you've got it licked ;D

Seriously though.....there are strong links between processed crap eaten on a regular basis and many kinds of cancer.
We try to eat as much fresh food as possible......combined with a just a bit of tasty processed crap. :)

My mum grew up in abject poverty as a kid, and only ate at all if there was anything left after feeding us kids. She's been eating crap for 92 years. ;D
-
Similar. My old mum was one of 17. I think she was number 14 or 15.
Three or four of the kids didn't survive childhood. I know she said consumption took a couple. :-X
-
Todays crap is different from the crap of fifty years ago, full of chemicals now.

Yes.....your old mum probably ate good food that was pulled from the earth rather than processed crap.
-
My Mum only ate the leftovers from her drunken stepfathers dinner if he fell asleep before he finished it.
Wasnt allowed to go to school much. Had to go begging on the streets instead, to get money for his booze.
He kept the food cupboard locked as it was for him and his kids.
Threw her out of the house in the clothes she wore and nothing else, because she found Jesus when she was 16.
Never had a Christmas or birthday card / present in her life growing up.
When I hear people whining about being in poverty I want to shoot the fickers.
When he was old and decrepit, his kids put him in an old peoples home 200 hundred yards from my Mum, and miles away from them.
She used to bring him to our house for his lunch.
Go figure. ::)
-
Not that I qualify, but the fuel needed to get to my nearest Iceland wouldn't make it worthwhile. So she'll have to make do with Tesco/Waitrose/Saino.
-
Iceland food is utter shite anyway so your not missing out on anything.

It is....
Lidl is also a budget supermarket but most of the items are of excellent quality. :y

Some Iceland food is shite, some is quite good. It's a matter of picking what you think is ok.
People rave over M&S food, but I've had a couple of very average ready meals from there.
-
Anyway, us poor pensioners can't afford to be picky, we buy what we can afford :'(
Might be a bit better off next year when we get our 10% rise :)

I don't rate Waitrose or M and S. Expensive and not that great.
Lidl and Aldi ( I think they are German) have given the British supermarkets a bloody nose.
As for Your 10% Iceland voucher I don't get one like you old boys. I also have to pay for prescriptions and eye tests....etc...etc. :-\

I agree.
You were only a young man during the 1939-45 campaign so your contribution couldn't have been that significant. ::)

Victorian or not it would weed out the malingerers. If you are well enough to go shopping in Iceland you are well enough to break rocks for ten hours a day.
Perhaps TB could run it. >:D ::) ::) ::)

We don't need a workhouse society though, we have a fairly generous welfare system that makes sure us old codgers are kept warm and well fed. Burp.... ;D

I rate Waitrose very highly. Also Sainsburys, although not quite up to Waitrose standards.

Perhaps it could be the start of flexible pricing.
Prices go UP a few percentage points at busy times.

Why?
I find most of their food is over-salted in order to cover a lack of quality.
Sainsbury I find no different to Asda or Tesco.
-
My local Sainsbury haven't done very well at all lately. Not that impressed with M&S or Waitrose either.
-
You can't beat good quality simple ingredients cooked well :)
