Gear Box Fault Code from "Engine Side"
« on: 31 July 2022, 16:20:40 »

So all ok, only bank 2 Lambda 1 should be changed as it is lazy (2.6 V6, Auto AR25). Cleared that code from Engine Side today but found that there was another code P1700(8) "Service Vehicle Soon Request from Transmission Control Module". When I checked fault codes from Gear Side I found P0725(4) "Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction".

What is going on? RPM meter and gear box work normally. Where do the Gear Box get the Engine Speed Signal?

The sensor is on the end of the box near, to where the propshaft attaches. I am not saying yours is the same, but cleaning the selector switch. Then changing the gearbox filter and new fluid, sorted the same sort of problem on mine. Maybe cleaning selector switch, on the side of the gearbox first, might sort the problem for you?  Also easy to do. There is a how2 in the maintenance section.

That the output shaft.

Would need to check, but think input speed is taken from same signal provided by crank sensor.

Thanks for comments, let's see.

Code P0725(4) "Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction" Is this that something that 'Engine ECU' does not know Vehicle Speed or 'Gear Box Control System' does not know Engine Speed?

I changed some years ago the Selector Switch so that should be ok.
