« on: 24 July 2009, 16:05:21 »
can someone get me a TC price for a pair of rear control arms

The car will be going in for a geomertry check following the front suspension leg change and both rear arms have seen better days, so I will replace them prior to taking it in.

near side part number is 90497197, @ £75.90 inc VAT (according to the local Vaux dealer)

Omega General Help / 2.0 Ltr pressure in camcover
« on: 04 October 2008, 23:46:44 »
How much pressure would you find in the camcover?

I have cleaned the oil seperator and the 2 pipes on the front/offside of the camcover.

changed the timing belt and water pump, put it all back together and when I started it up, I had a lookin the oil filler and there was quite a bit of pressure coming out of the filler hole  >:(

I would expect that much pressure to blow the new cam cover seal if left to run  >:( >:(

any ideas??

Omega General Help / Contitech cambelt kit, contents!
« on: 25 September 2008, 21:47:16 »
I have just watched the 4 pot cambelt change DVD, in it the kit used had 2 idler pulleys as well as the tensioner and belt.

My contitech kit from Bypartsbuy.com only had the belt and tensioner in it!

Is this correct?

do I need to get onto them for the missing parts, or source them seperately?

Got the cambelt kit, supplier could not get the locking wedge so has someone got one they don't need for a week or so.

Also would like a copy of the DVD, am willing to pay into the OOF coffers as it is not in the shop yet.

Omega General Help / 2.0ltr Cam cover & gasket
« on: 23 August 2008, 00:14:41 »
Started to strip the engine down;

Removed oil seperator, blocked solid. spent some time cleaning it out

Removerd the cam cover,(no loose bolts) but plenty of gunge.

All the breather pipes connected to the cover are in a poor state, blocked, cracked & full of gunge.

Used white spirit & Gunk to wash out the breather channels in the cover. Was not happy with that so took a screwdriver to the insert piece and broke it off to find major sh!t in there, so will get a new one as well as a gasket.

Photo doesn;t show how much loose debris is in there.

I now need a price for;

Cam cover & gasket part No 90501944
vent pipe part No 90412280

Omega General Help / 3.0 v 2.5 camcovers
« on: 01 January 2008, 16:35:24 »
Are they the same?

EPC shows different part numbers, is this only because they are in different engine sections or is there a physical difference?

As I understand the heads are the same with higher lift cams in the 3.0ltr

comments please

Omega General Help / Diff identification
« on: 13 October 2007, 14:46:12 »
I need to identify the diff on my breaker.

EPC says the ident should be next to the near side mounting bush on top of the diff.

Cleaned several areas off but no code

any ideas  :-/

Omega General Help / V 6 HT lead positions
« on: 24 August 2007, 20:33:59 »
Started the passenger side cam cover reseal today.

While the top is off I am going to replace the dis pack and leads with a newer one from my donor car.

Pulled the HT leads off to get the bolts out and when I got the replacement out I'm sure the leads are wrong.

can someone confirm the lead positions for a 3.0ltr please.

Whilst typing this, I just thought that the firing order is different for a 2.5ltr might that be why the leads are different??

This is as new dis pack

I think that the left and right banks are supplied from different sides of the dis pack on the 3.0ltr!

Omega General Help / Secondary or  air con problem, i think?
« on: 19 February 2007, 21:00:32 »
I thought I had a hole in the exhaust, but after poking around.

There is a pipe from the bottom of the offside exhaust, which comes round the front of the engine via a 2" rubber flexible joint.

The rubber was in bits, fairly well burnt

So I fitted a "spare" and thought that was it. This morning I started the car and it sounded as thought the exhaust had fell off, the "new" rubber was in bits.

Then I found the real spare, still attached to the spare pipe.

Question is, will the real rubber pipe melt, because theres a problem or did the last rubber pipe melt because it was the wrong material??

Omega General Help / Oil filter cap 15Nm MY ARSE
« on: 26 November 2006, 16:55:55 »
Went about changing the oil today, got the bits together, jacked the car up and drained the oil...

So far so good.

Lent on a spanner on the filter cap and the whole body starts turning  :-?

15 minutes later got the body off, (the threaded boss in the body is free floating)

then had to heat the aluminium body up to crack the cap free. As the title, 15 Nm it wasn't

Now stuck as I need to replace the (now) three bits of seal under the filter body before I can put it together and go to work.  :(
