I have an US version imported through Cadillac, the Catera, 3.0 V6.  In the US a set of Bosch or AC Delco plug wires is about US $135-145 from internet sources. I assume these will be stock 7 mm wires. If I'm going to pay that kind of money, I was wondering if anyone has a source for 8 mm wires. Since the 98 uses a coil pack, that end at least will, I THINK, take a standard HEI terminal as found on many cars. I am wondering if one could fabricate a set of higher performance wires starting with an HEI set. The plug end presents the problem because of the custom plug boot unique to the Catera. Can that be removed and reused?  Has anyone undertaken this?
