Title: Power sounder
Post by: Migalot on 22 June 2018, 14:40:57
I'm without my remote fob for a few days (waiting for a new PCB). In the meantime, I am locking/inlocking manually with the key in the door. Is there an way easily to TEMPORARILY disable the power sounder as it goes off every time I return to the car before starting the engine.

I have a couple of early starts this weekend and don't really want to annoy the neighbours!  :-[

Only option is to remove it and hide it away until it shuts up (internal battery goes flat).

Or unplug it and tolerate the noise until it shuts up.

Also unplug the horn which is in the same area

Or leave power sounder connected, and wait for fire brigade to wake the whole street up when the car catches fire.

Remove the power sounder. :y

Thought power sounder only went off if the car battery was being tampered with. :-\

The only thing you need to know about thee power sounder is how to remove it - permanently.

Panic over!

The new fob PCB has arrived and I'll pick the key up in the morning.  :y

I would still take heed regarding the previous advice and remove it completely the power sounder when it malfunctions has the capacity of setting your car on fire!!! :o

Remove it altogether mate and destroy it with a lump hammer, major risk on old migs , don't stick it in the shed either as it can still combust

I hate a strange smell, that seemed to come from the Power sounder area and my wife said she saw smoke. I'd already come across the powersounder thread on OFF, so I was a bit worried - I do tend to procrastinatem hence why I read how dangerous it is and ignored this.

Anyway I didn't delay and immediately decided to remove it. Except that a previous owner had been there before.

The actual issue was oil on the exhaust.  Which I'm obviously ignoring too.
