Cortina engine OHC , engine change- distributor drive pin underneath that drove oil pump fell off, -Engine seized not surprisingly,

starter motor swap on cortina - spare (s/h one from loft) - original removed , original refitted, original removed, 'new' fitted - then engine started.

first and only time - went to a car mechanics course in evening- car park on leaving - timing belt on 1.6 cortina broke- transported back home - timing belt off of spare engine, 2 hours to remove pully on car - ( waiting for train to go past before hammering at midnight) -

omega - keys in ignition, after ~2 hours locked itself - 30 secs to remove small window - nearly got it back in - then broke, perspex to rescue whilst awaiting new glass

polished motorbike- seat as well, took it out, nearly fell off back of seat as it was slippery

Omega General Help / Re: Estate rear wiper
« on: 23 October 2014, 12:06:43 »
Car gets washed more frequently than the company van ( semi-self cleaning), usually try and do it when is raining - thus saving using a leather,
myself - 3 times a year - Christmas, Easter and Birthday whether I need it or not- unfortunately two of those are fairly close together- making this time of year someone to be avoided!

On thinking about it , the spring would appear to be a likely culprit, as have tried both arms that have available,

Lubricant on glass! if that happens I suppose would have to bring the 6 monthly wash cycle forwards!

Where is the best place to get a rear wiper blade that actually bends to follow the curve of the glass?

Possibly VX dealer?

slightly off the subject I got a blackberry curve for 1/2 uk price to replace an older tired one, original contract had my email come thru ok,  but then changed contract to a £12/mth one ( was > 2x previously) but have lost email updates ( probably not a blackberry type contract- and havent bothered sorting it as go thru browser ocassionally) .
But what surprised me was the low price for exactly the same mins/data - albeit you have to sign up for 18 mths

Don't know how much reputedly is a dell.  But not having seen it can't comment.

At least it's worked out ok, only possible on the horizon is visit to give a statement regarding allegedly stolen goods, but not bothered about that.

If it was me , and my possessions were left outside I would be hot-footing there to get them as quickly as possible, but not everybody is normal- ( used to think I was, but not sure now! :)

Monday evening ~2130 the ex-lodger came back.
not happy ,
police arrived before I got back , ( probably one of the neighbours)
ex-lodger saying there was a case  & laptop missing.
Police were invited to look in our premises to see if the allegedly missing items were there. - House, outhouses, garage, van , cars where offered to them for their inspection. My comment was that all the items in the bedroom were bagged/boxed up, placed under cover in the back garden where they were untouched as of 0900 mon morning.
eventually after police had got bored with him repeating the same comments, all items were loaded into his car and I was then available to take the dog for a walk. ( @0130 am)

No lock on room, back door key only.

This am lock changed, stuff outside well wrapped in plastic ( as if it was my own) , then texted ( bounce back confirmed was received) him that as he had omitted to remove his belongings , and they were available for collection at his convenience in the back garden.

nothing so far, - but missus is worried
