My new motor, It ain't a Monaro but....
« on: 16 July 2015, 22:57:59 »

Its got the same number of pots. OK. OK. So, I'm an old fart! And I didn't realise I would need to take an astronaut's course to get used to and understand the 50. Yes 'fifty' knobs, buttons and switches. Not to mention the 454 pages of the owners handbook. Talking to a bloke the other day who has had a LS430 for 2 years, and is still finding things he didn't know about?? One thing that pleasantly surprised me is, so far it has been the same on petrol as the 3.2 Miggy?? Can't stop the missus reclining the back seat and switching on the 'massage' button  :o

Now that is a cracking bit of kit.  If I was significantly older than 33, I'd own one in a heart-beat.

I've driven a couple, and they are just as refined as an old Merc, or dare I say it a Silver Shadow.  Of course, the Lexarse has all the toys, bells and whistles.

Good choice, Sir.

Whilst it is not slow, it is rather lazy (both the 5 speed and 6 speed auto's).  I think the 0-60 is around 6.8 seconds, book.  I'd stick it head-to-head with a 3.2 Omega and there wouldn't be much in it.  Of course, weight is the issue, and the Lexarse is extremely heavy (and extremely comfortable).

I'm not taking anything away from it though.... they are properly nice things to cruise around in!

Thanks for the kind comments, as for speed, not interested anymore, 'been there done that'. But I do like watching the rev counter sitting at 1800 revs at 70mph. It is luxurious I agree, also have to agree with Opti it isn't much of a looker but then, neither am I. And I have never been into looking at myself in shop windows at traffic lights, and never yet had a car that I can see from the drivers seat? Would ask if anyone has any tips on cleaning the seats. As they are the heated/cooled variety they have perforated leather faces. How the heck do you clean them without all the 'gack' going through the holes??? Maybe 2 Miggys going to be up for sale soon??  :-\

It's a fantastic machine - You should be proud of owning it!!!!

The perforated (air-cooled) seats as I have in mine.  I use Glyptone Leather cleaner and use it as you would any other type of leather.  Once it properly dries, it becomes a powder anyway, so just vanishes.  Forget the expensive Microfibre cloths, get to Aldi/Asda/Wherever and buy a pack of three for a quid.  Use these to really wipe the excess product off and most of it will disappear anyway.

Whatever you do (and I really DO endorse most Meguires stuff)..... Do not buy Meguires Leather products.  Don't get me wrong, they do the job, but they are very greasy, they stink to high heaven and not any cheaper than the Gliptone stuff.

Very nice indeed a worthy Omega successor IMO, liking the colour an all suits it  8)...only thing I'm not so keen on is the interior colour I'd personally go for black it also goes better with the wood IMO.

The exact year/model I'd go for when the time comes to replace the Omega this will be the likely contender.

Best of luck with it :y.. Have heard the cambelt on these have very long intervals something like 90k - 8 years or something, not sure on how much parts cost or how hard it would be to DIY something like a cambelt job on these though, would imagine a Lexus garage would charge in the region of 1k, Small price to pay though giving how long the intervals are an probably works out cheaper than the Omega long term anyway  8)

Think these big ass Lexus things are nearly bullet proof reliability?

... and yeah a 4.3 V8 same on fuel as 3.2 V6  :-X :-X

 ::)  ;D

Always said 3.2's are crap on fuel for their size  :D
