Title: Jaguar XE
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 25 April 2021, 16:11:26
Noticed a few Omega memebrs have taken to driveing Jags these days, so went and had a nosey on Autotrader at a couple of XE models and went to check the MOT history, both came back with the mileage unreadable.

Is this a common thing or a fiddle to hide something, My MOT tester sticks his head in the car and confirms the mileage his self.

I've asked someone who deals with warranty within that company, and certainly not a common problem, and it should appear on the dash when turning on ignition.

It could be you have to tell the Fuel Computer to display that rather than a specific function when driving, but I'm told it reverts back briefly to mileage when ignition first turned on and when ignition is turned off.

So sounds like your average thicko doing the MOT.

Its put me off or at least I could see 100% proof that the mileage is genuine.

XE is great to drive.

.....even in 2.0 derv form like the one I had as a loan car.

Petrol is OBVIOUSLY better though. :)

If you get a Jag, it has to be the R-Sport model.

Nothing brings a smile to so many faces as an MOT tester saying your R-Sport has failed on emissions  ;D

MOT readings mean nothing, even if the MOTer could be arsed to read it.  If somebody is going to play silly beers with mileage, only the most stupid are going to do so in one big step. Most will do it more regularly, so it doesn't look so obvious.

Yep, it's a 4 door MX5 with comfort and refinement.

Bit of a shame to put a tractor donk in one, though. :(

Not driven the 3.0 V6 petrol but I imagine it to be the sweet spot in the XE range

340 BHP or 380 BHP, take your pick.

The 2 litre 4 pot petrol in 250 BHP, or better still 300 BHP form, should be entertaining. :y

A soot chucking variant is on the maybe list for her as a daily. If I CBA. If I CBA, she'll just have to keep using the shitty old Battlebus.  As long as I dont have to, its not my problem :P
