Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Reference ECU 3.2
« on: 21 February 2021, 15:19:59 »
Hi, I am looking for a 3.2 ECU and I wanted to know if with the reference 0 261 206 492 it is 100% omega or it can be from another car. I have seen one with that reference that claims to be a zafira, is that possible? If so, what else should I look at?

In that case, just throw the 3.2 engine* in and call it done :y

* the only thing to swap would be the flywheel and spigot bearing from the 2.6.

No programming required  ;)

If you insist on fitting the 3.2 ecu then you need the key chips and transponder ring to match the 3.2 ecu, which is extra hassle  ;)

Perfect  :y

I don,t have access to tech 2, could someone do the manual conversion of the 3.2 ECU?
Can you read?

Use the 2.6 ecu, transponder and chip. That way the car still matches the car pass if you lose your keys.

Reprogramming the 3.2 ecu to manual is a waste of time and money.

What do you mean if I can read? What other option is there?

The 3.2 has different bore and stroke so the internals will be very different.

.. ah. Bearings might not be too different, however. Depends if the journal diameters are the same. Probably best to measure the crank first anyway, in case there is any wear.

The diameters are the same, in fact fcp forged rods are the same for 3.0 and 3.2. In the case of the rods, the difference seems to be that the 3.2 has two flanges

I don't know about the crankshaft, but this guy seems to have done it with 3.0 material over 3.2 but I don't know what result it would have given him and if it is reliable

For the 3.2?

It has a forged crank. the 2.5/2.6/3.0 doesn't.

Yes, but dimensions are the same

Hi, I,m looking for the bearings of the con rods and crankshaft but I do not find them out of origin. I have seen that a Czech boy used a not OEM parts, will they be from the x30xe? The measurements are the same but the references are different, how do they change?

Only Tech 2.

But not required.

Your 2.6 ecu will run it.  ;)

Oh, you'll also need the front half of the drive shaft as they're a different length iiirc ;)
You don't even need to change the loom unless the sensors are different.

Literally plug and play plus the clutch pedal and plumbing :y

Thanks!
Yes I know my 2.6 ecu will run it, but this time, I like to do perfect. My car is manual, so I guess what you say about the transmission and the pedal is not necessary right?

Presumably this is the same really well kept engine that never had a cambelt change since leaving the factory?

You are supposing wrong
I was being slightly sarcastic.

Is the engine that you went to change the belt on only to find that it was almost destroyed? Presumably you bought the locking tools before you fitted the new belt?

No, it squeaked and looking at the belt it was almost destroyed. Then I put on a new belt and the noise persisted, it turned out to be the covers, I put those of 2.6 and it was solved. I don't know why, but that's how it was

Not if it's knocking it won't...  :D

It been calling a long time, if it were crank bearing it would have broken up long ago

if it is only piston slap then it could last for years but piston slap / wear doesnt normally manifest itself as metal filings in the sump ?

They are tiny particles, it is logical after a grab, but yes, it can work like that for a long, long time, in fact the noise disappears soon and already works smooth and quiet

Actually, remove the cams from the 3.0 and, if they are good, ie not scored up or otherwise damaged, fit them to the 2.6. It will pep it up a bit.  :y

Return to 2.6 don't contemplate. If I take out the engine it will be for something bigger.
Well, you could fit an LS but you can kiss goodbye to about £12-15k.

If it's your daily driver, a working 2.6 is better than a dead or unavailable larger lump. Thems about your options...

If I don't have a LS  it's because the laws don't allow it  ;D
The engine will hold, it takes a few thousand miles and what's left

The next best available is the 3.2 from a Vectra C but it's jusy shy of £600.

It would be interesting if it weren't for the shipping costs to Spain  :-\

You could buy a running 3.0l still in a car and drive it home for less....

Sad but true
