Today's car hatred is insane. And the worst thing is the people who use the car to work and support these measures

The way we profligately use power for everything cannot continue.

Nuclear is the ONLY way to GO! Everybody else is doing it (in europe) as we buy their electrickery from not so far away.
See Here!

https://gridwatch.co.uk/

I worked latterly on CCGT,s and nuclear as a fully qualified instrument engineer (DG will know what that is) but you can see which provides the most power for our needs at this moment. GAS AND OIL (Yea Yea) I know what you are going to retort!

Jock
The US seems to do reasonably well with Nuclear electricity production. (Apart from the lefty hotbed that is California which can't quite get by on renewables and hydro when it gets dark or doesn't rain for long enough...) Most of their gas consumption is industrial and their oil consumption is largely limited to transport. And until Sippy Cup had his first day, they were more or less energy sufficient.

Cooling ponds/lakes provide wildlife habitats and recreational areas. OK, there will be those who might disagree with flooding valleys to create the cooling reservoirs, but the concept could be suitably scaled down to suit the geography.

What the upper classes who can afford electric cars want is the “common- working class”:people have to go back onto their bicycles and onto buses as they, the toffs, move about freely, back to like it was during the first part of the 20th century.

Am I being cynical and not being fair?  Maybe, but who is helping most of us to easily obtain the save the planet vehicles and have the charging points required?  No one in the current government that’s for sure! :-X

I watched an interesting news item that explained how there is a big rush on to be the first to develop mini reactors that will, over the next few years, be ready to provide a plentiful supply of “cheap electricity”.  Great if this can become a reality, but I remember that phrase of “cheap electricity” being used in the 1960’s :D ;)

Yes Lizzie, but then the 'mini' reactors are the size of a couple of football fields!
They are better than what we have got at the moment.
Nuclear has gone waaaaay ahead since our outdated 1950/60's technology and much safer.
Not in this country though!

CCGT's can run on oil and gas. Jet engines basically.
Thank you Mr Whittle!

That's how it is . The funny thing is how it becomes clear that living like a poor person is cool

This is all well and good as long as we can obtain the oil and gas to fuel the things.  ::)

It seems our current crop of idiots 'in charge' are happy to leave our own supplies in the ground and import what we need.  >:(

Should be easy enough already. Nuclear sub technology.

If it is not flight critical they'll run on veg oil.

The latest green fuels are at the commercial testing phase. Just need to start harvesting seaweed or get the vegetablists to eat less soya.
