I do hope things are normal by Christmas
« on: 16 November 2020, 22:24:58 »

If not, I'm going to miss out on all that spending money on shite that people don't want, cooking a dinner that nobody eats and being (reasonably) nice to people I can't stand the sight of. Not to mention all the shite telly. I would really miss it, honest.

Judging by the way a lot of the houses round here already have Christmas trees up in their front room windows and the outsides lit up with all sorts of lights and decorations Christmas is already here :-X Having said that I hope they don't "cancel" Christmas otherwise I'll have wasted a quid buying Christmas cards :D

Won't be doing much at all this year, decided weeks ago not going shopping & can't be doing with online purchasing, we have everything we want the grandkids are happy with cash . Be nice few days on our own with no visitors even if they lift lockdown which looks doubtful.

Why do you think we are in lockdown now? The numbers were falling. The estimated cases/deaths are a lot higher than the reality.

I think the answer is, Boris didn't want to be the prime minister that stole Christmas. It's a political move which will hopefully mean that we can have some normality at Christmas. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets extended by a week. I also wouldn't be surprised if lockdown starts again just prior to NYE, to stop the partying.

Yes, it is interesting how that is happening down here as well.

It seems people are deciding to start Christmas early with decs going up everywhere, and even my daughter going out and buying everything she will need for Christmas.  These certainly are far from normal times ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Come on TB, get the Christmas smilies out!! ;)

It all sounded pretty grim on the lunchtime news , the problem being I think if the lockdown is eased for Christmas, the stupid section of the British public will then start the planning for New year's Eve, this virus is not going away anytime soon & the sensible amongst us are prepared to accept that. Stay safe.

I know I'm a miserable old bastard, but I've been praying for years for Christmas to be cancelled. I don't like it at all, and it gets bigger every year.

Same here. On the bright side we are in the middle of TB,s longed for cull. Problem is, it seems the wrong people are succumbing to it.
The stupid ones are passing it on to the undeserving. ::)

My best mate & his wife have 4 kids  3 are teachers at different schools in Kent, all 3 have now tested positive & are isolating one had been told not to inform any of the other staff, unfortunately she hit send to all button when emailing her friend at the school , why try & hide the problem ?
