Omega General Help / MOT Advisory need help
« on: 31 March 2014, 09:22:20 »
I have just got a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CD 2003 and on the MOT advisory, it says, other areas of corrosion to nearside and offside chassis legs.

Where do I look under the car to find the areas they are talking about? So I can see how bad the corrosion is.

Anyone know what is involved and what the cost might be to get it welded?

Is this normal for the 2003 Omega to rust there?

Thanks

I test drove a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CD petrol 2003 last night but there are a couple of problems I am worried about.

There is a lot of oil around the dif. Is this common and should I worry too much about it? There is no wining from it.

The brake pedal travel is very long before the brakes engage and the car stops. If I put my foot down hard the car stops fine but the amount of brake travel is a big worry. The front and rear discs are worn and have a fairly large lip around the outer edge. Would the wear cause this problem? What could be the problem?

There is also a roughness through the clutch pedal when pulling away in first all other gears are smooth. Is this normal for this car at this age?

The car is not in the best of conditions but with a bit of TLC will come up looking not to bad at all for the price. He wants £250 for the car but I don't know weather the car is worth spending a load of money on it if the faults above is costly. It will need 4 new tires soon as well well. It is being used daily.
