General Car Chat / About to part ex the MV6
« on: 21 October 2013, 20:33:40 »
Hi All as we bought a twin wheel caravan earlier this year and it is on the limit for the towing capacity of the 2.6 omega its got to go - found a very very low mileage DTI frontera 03 plate with one owner full vauxhall service history and only 38k on the clock - offered £500 for my near mint mv6 which has 92k on the clock so not a bad loss really one year on as i only paid £900 for it.

anyway put some bits on ebay if anyone is interested - full set of MV6 springs (as car was lowered by an ex owner originals came with car - very good condition 90% of original paint still on them)

and a air induction carbon fibre viper kit (sounds great not sure of any performance improvements)

both the above are on ebay

will still stay on the forum and am willing to answer any v6 issues

Geoff

Omega General Help / Programming Key Fob
« on: 08 December 2012, 17:17:36 »
Bought a new key fob as my 2nd key after fitting a new battery only unlocked the other two buttons were defunct, For £ 27 got a new one - programmed lots in the past for vectras and my wifes corsa with my "My Naff Code Reader" - no chance on the omega - went to my mates garage today to see if his £10000 diagnostics gear would do the job - no chance do everything else but not the key fob, I presume you need a genuine Tech 2 for this job or does anyone know a bit of kit that can do it?

Omega General Help / Omega 02 plate 2.2dti cutting out under load
« on: 02 September 2011, 14:11:38 »
Just checked a friends DTI out - has a problem only when towing his caravan - engine cuts out when under load (overtaking) did it five times recently - puts it in neutral and restarts no problem - checked stored history codes and found the following

P0190 & P01590  Seam to be aimed at a mechanical fuel pump issue - any info on this would be welcome.

also i have seen on Vectra forums recently about people adding 2stroke oil to diesel - around 250 ml per tank - this idea has come from a Ford transit website - the idea is to lubricate the pump - meant to run quieter and improve mpg - not heard of this before - anyone on here tried it?

General Discussion Area / Ebay bargain!
« on: 12 July 2006, 23:24:18 »
Last week I bought a V6 engine off ebay - 77k on it a couple of bent valves due to belt failure.
It was out of a vectra and the guy put a 3.0 in out of an Omega - so far we have removed the pistons which are spot on including the bores and the shells - even the paint on the block is in good order.
best of all - he was only a couple of miles down the road from me-

So what did I pay.......................................................... there was 2 bidders.........................................................................

£1.20 plus he gave me the omega bits off the engine plenum, sump support and the odd sensor - I felt a bit guilty so i gave him an extra £10  ;D

General Discussion Area / Who Am I
« on: 12 July 2006, 01:31:03 »
Well most of you know me as Geffd - but As I am known as a few other name's (watch it ronnie) i thought I would start this new forum with my other well known name on the Vectra front(vvoc) as V6man54deg.
I am not an owner (as of yet) of an Omega - but do own a couple of V6 vectra's (one sold as of the weekend - fingers crossed) but as an ex V6 engine plant - engine technician have a lot of knowledge to share with Omega owners.
I have worked for Vauxhall in Ellesmere Port for the last 21 years / 12 years on Durability testing/ warranty work on the V6 engine - this job took me not only to many dealerships in the UK but six trips to the many USA plants that used our engine, Saab in Trollhatton for the 900,9000 and 9-5 V6 turbo and Russelshiem Germany for the Vectra & Omega V6.
Now I spend many a weekend working on V6 engines with an ex collegue of mine, as he bought all of the V6 engine plant  specialist tools we carry out timing belt changes, oil & coolant leak problems and full engine rebuilds - so if you have a V6 problem get in touch.
anyway enough of the plugs - back to who i am......
my Name is Geoff I'm 41 married and have two sons (none interested in cars :'() my other interests are  I'm a Royal Naval reservist - who is about to be called up Again!!!!!!..... for Afgahnistan to support the marines (yes I know there is no sea around there i think they want me to change cam belts or something...... just looking for six months off work  ;D
