There is a button next to the auto gearbox stick(left hand side) with what looks like a snow drop on it, what does it do/whats it for :)

Snow mode, I believe it starts off in 3rd gear. It's so the wheels don't spin when driving on snow. I've never had occasion to use it, and I've had manuals before my current two auto Omega's so can't confirm.

It's snow mode, it locks the gearbox into a higher gear for extra traction in the snow.

Bet you might press it when you are starting off on an uphill slope on snow/ice and end up going backwards!

I had problems last year getting over a bridge in York.

I had TC on and had it in ice mode - Just span the wheels and went backwards down the hill.

Turned ICE mode off, same again, just span - went backwards another few feet.

Turned TC off, ICE mode off, and a foot full - she slowly fishtaled all the way up the bridge ;D :D ;D
