Chopsdad has again arranged for us to have a quiet convivial meeting with an occassional dry sherry or three at Burns Farm (http://www.burns-farm.co.uk/pageController.php) in Keswick in the Lake District over the last weekend in June.
Please add to the running list as to numbers attending, whether tent or caravan and whether electric hookup is required.

Bug*er.........not sure if I'm going to be able to make this. Last year I promised my sister (a big F1 fan like me) that I'd take her to the British GP this year and it takes place the following weekend after this meet. Can't afford to do both so will have to sit on the fence for the time being. I'll be gutted if I can't make it as last year was excellent. :'( :'( :'(
If things change I'll add myself to the list. :-/

:)Thanks again Chopsdad. If we book early enough could you ask she who must be ignored & laughed at (& not paid!) if we can have our own area all together regardless of caravans etc? I imagine she could arrange it as we book regularly & may continue to do so. Being near a tap would be handy, i can wash cars, although if it's as hot as last year no point in polishing. There's a minor service job i'd like doing on my car (cleaning the front pipe thingies out!) but i'll wash cars in return.
P.S. Jaimie. Don't forget my airbag problem, i'll pay for that one. :y

I'm away in Manchester until Friday pm so I'll contact the site this weekend. Too many tents want electric - iirc there are only 3/4 pitches available but will advise. Deposits required this year for the caravans - I'll PM details when I've secured the site - if you are waivering about being able to go please delete your name as I'm looking for definitive numbers only as there are so many coming :)

We're now up to 25 tents...5 caravans....58 people and a few dogs.
Given the size I've checked today and we're going into a field of our own :)
The only downside is it has no electric :(
But the field is over the wall from the caravans so lobbing a few extension lines over the wall is ok ;)

We're now up to 25 tents...5 caravans....58 people and a few dogs.
Given the size I've checked today and we're going into a field of our own :)

My hook up has a 4 way on it, so i think it would be fairly easy to to power up the rest of the tents just running off a couple of hook ups as you say :y

Nice one Mark. Good to hear we've got our own area. We had a water tap last year, could you check with the sex kittten how far we are from the nearest tap please? I can bring a 25mtr. hosereel & a few bits to wash & shammy off a few Migs, wheel cleaner, tyre black etc.

We're in a field at the top of the site - over a big wall - beyond the thunderdome caravans at the opposite end to last time. The field has a water tap supply and we can use the "old" shower block, pretty much exclusively. Being as the "new" block we used last year was a bit naff I see it as a good thing :)

I'll be bringing a 110AH batt with 650w invertor, so anybody short on leccy for charging phones/laptops/etc is welcome :y........i'll probably bring my 14" TV......but poss never get turned on ;D So batt should last the weekend easy :y

TBH I would have been gutted to have missed it as I haven't missed any of the big meets yet. Just as well Jim's coming too as it sounds like we're gonna be a tad busy on the barbie's. I'll have a word with Mike Dundee when he gets back from Thailand as he gets some top sausages and meat from one of his local wholesalers - those of you who tried the sausages at Shifnal will know what I mean. :y

N.B booking forms must be returned within 1 days of receiving to secure booking as pitches can’t be held without deposit especially in high season.
• To provide a peaceful night for all, no excessive noise is permitted between 10pm and 8am. Persons making excessive noise at any time will be asked to leave the site. No refunds will be given
• Anyone causing a nuisance or disturbance to others will be asked to leave. No refunds will be given
• We are a quiet site that welcomes families and couples of all ages
• Because we are a quiet site we regret that we do not accept single sex or mixed groups under the age of 25. We do cater for organised groups with prior arrangement and deposit Linda@burns-farm.co.uk
• Bookings are accepted only for the party named and are not transferable
• Well behaved dogs are welcome at Burns Farm, but must be kept under control and on a lead at all times. Dogs must not be left unaccompanied on site at any time.
• Pitches are available from 12 noon on the day of arrival, and must be vacated by 12 noon during busy holidays on the day of departure, unless other arrangements have been made with us.
• Deposits are non-refundable.
• Please make cheques payable to Linda Lamb.
• Electric Pitches - Touring C_aravans, Motorhomes, Campervans & Tents: Please telephone for availability.
• Non Electric Pitches - Tents: No advance bookings taken for less than 3 nights over Bank Holidays.
• Tent size must be size stated on booking form, if larger than stated on booking form we may not be able to cater for it and you could loose your deposit.
• Camp Fires are not allowed on site. Portable BBQs are permitted, but must be kept off grass. For your own safety gas bottles and BBQs must not be used in tents or awnings.
• No firearms, offensive weapons or fireworks of any kind are allowed on the site.
• The speed Limit on the site is 5mph and must be observed at all times.
• Liability is not accepted by Burns farm for accidents to campers and their guests or for the loss or damage to personal property.

Its one of those queen size airbeds, stands about 15" high, so you wouldn't want to do that by hand ;D
Fortunately it has a built in 240v pump that does it in 3 mins :y

I drove up the M6 today around 12 o'clock from Preston to Carlisle and between Junction's 36 & 37 just around Killington Lake services there has a white van parked on the side of bridge just out of sight but it had placed three tripod mounted camera's, one over each lane, I think I was travelling about 125-130mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Just aswell I was driving a Police Volvo T5 :y

It's about a 4 hour drive - without any holdups - 250 miles - for us, and SWMBO won't finish work until 2:00, with luck we'll be away by 3:00 so expect to arrive between 7:00 and 8:00 pm.

My own fault for taking out loans i'd struggle to pay 4 yrs ago. Paid off March 09 after 5 yrs so i'm nearly there! Do'nt want any arrears.

Well, that's 2 emails she's not replied to, and the cheque written on 16 April still hasn't been cashed. Looks like I might be on battery & gas power for the week end rather than mains leccy.

Right, just looked at the post and seems to be a good laugh, BUT takeing into consideration the mileage and cost's involved to get there unfortunatley I am unable to attend this meet. For me to get there it will take me approx 9 hours whilst towing a caravan, which is to long for at the moment, fuel wise it would be four tank fulls of fuel and at the current fuel prices this will cost me approx £260 just to get there and back.

You can go out for a few hours to sightsee etc, or stay around site where I'm sure there will be some tinkering with cars going on.
You can go for boat rides on the lakes, car museum at Keswick, slate mine at the top of Honister Pass, stroll up Scafell Pike - lots to do if you want to go out. Or stay at site and play Omegas.

So it's in the bin - totally f*cked :o
Mrs C bought a new Dell on-line and saved £10 by doing without something called a modem - so now my internet access is f*cked too!
Work laptop banned from any site that contains any kind of offensive or similar material - so I've kept out of the chat room just in case! Bankers are easily offended.
Thanks to Daz and Jaime for keeping the thread up to date and I should be back next week when my wireless router arrives ;)
PS. I've been putting off the following jobs for the meet...any volunteers or should I slip it in the local garage?

I need 2 new tyres on the front, brakes all round, and bearings too... And can't afford to do it...

We may have to cancel this ... My elderly Aunt/Godmother has passed away (a blessed relief in some ways - she is now at peace) and I WILL be attending the funeral which is next week, if it's the Friday we won't be at Keswick.
I'm not sure when I'll hear when the funeral is, we'll have to wait and see.

Update ... The funeral is Thursday, so we'll still be coming :)
Aiming to leave here around 3pm .. should get to Keswick sometime between 7 & 9 .. autoroute reckons its 4 hours, so with a coffee break and traffic, I reckon just under 41/2 to 5 with luck .. but could be more :(

Some of these gazebo's are very light-weight material, and not waterproof, others are heavier and the material is "plasticised" to make them rainproof .. not sure which category that one is ..
We have a lightweight one which is really only useful as a sunshade .. the minute it rains the inside is like being in a fine mist !!
If you can find out which type it is .... ?

Probably not if it was taken down overnight or no-one slept in it, it is more a "temporary shelter", and I wouldn't leave one up overnight if it is at all windy anyway, in my experience they are not the strongest of structures !!!

At that price it might be worth a dabble, it is twice the size of "normal" gazebo's ... I reckon at 18 X 9 (ft ish) you could get 20-25 folks in there with camping type chairs...

She says there are that many of us, there struggling a bit with space so need to know exactly how many are going, so those in tents who haven't called to book a space, do so now!!!
Caravans are fine from what she said, space for those is ok, its just the tents!!

Just spoken to Linda and she is saying that she doesn't think there will be much chance of electric to tents, but those with a van will be OK.

I had a chat with her this morning,and we decided it would be most beneficial if those that need leccy pitch up near where I did last year,and we'll share the hookups (only 6A so nothing too big), and those that don't (assuming no more room in this section) will go in overspill field (no hookups there). Pikey boys go in pikey field as usual.
she no longer needs to know numbers for tents (but does for pikeys), and leccy for tents, whether prebooked or not, we will sort out on arrival. ensure you bring a 4way and a long 13A extn lead as well as hookup cable in case you need to supply feed to adjacent oofer, or take a feed from them.

I've simplified my route up :D
A49, A6, A590, A591... turn right a bit up the road, then left, then follow it to a bunch of caravans, and portable whiskey dispenser :)
Kit bag is packed, bag is nearly packed, got to put some more stuff in the panniers, charge the camera, and some other lil bits...
