As a Scot living in Ireland I used to watch BBC Scotland and STV news daily to keep in touch with what was happening back there .
The narrative bias in favour of the snp ( deliberate  ) became so unbearable that I abandoned tuning into either. To their eternal shame the Scottish MSM are puppets to the regime .
The core voter and follower of the cult are predominantly of Irish Catholic origins mixed with the blindly delusional and easily led . Braveheart has a lot to answer for .
The ones that I have engaged in conversation have been woefully unable to deliver any tangible or even remotely believable fiscal or administrative policies that would work in Scotlands favour from minute one .
Sturgeon's xenophobic outbursts display a deeply troubled , even perhaps damaged , persona far removed from the First Minister that Scotland deserves. She is utterly devoid of any gravitas .
I once thought I'd like to retire to a little place I know in the Scottish borders but that dream faded and died soon after 2014 when the downward spiral started .
The irony is that pre 2014 I warned my friends and family back in Scotland that if not wise and careful they could easily end up in the fractured state that Ireland was in at that time . To my friends here I now display Scotlands curse as an example of what occurs when a single party has the reigns of a country and the silent voter remains silent .....
I feel that there will have to be another referendum with the hope that if a super majority is not achieved then that is it , for ever .
If it is ,then let them go but close and lock the door firmly behind them.

The problem is that the whole Russian cultural infrastructure is driven by an overwhelming self belief and a falsly promoted concept of immense threat from "The West " .
It's classic propaganda driven control of the population to keep them in fear and therefore support of the cabal of leaders who have carved a very comfortable niche out for them selves at the expense of the largly poverty stricken and ill educated populace .
The total control of the media and internet tightens their grip and prevents the vast majority of seeing anything but what is best suited to the masters .
I'm not sure where this episode of life is taking us but can see a egotistical ,deluded and very dangerous man being denied everything he has arrogantly demanded from the world to fuel his own megalomaniac desires.
I don't believe that he will feel the need to stop his murderous ,barbaric onslaught even when he is inevitably forced into a corner . It's conceivable that he could announce to the people of the RF that, in his own belief , they would be better dead than westernised .
If he retains control I think it's inevitable that low yield tactical nuclear weapons will be used in Ukraine as he has no other option but to raise the stakes in this game .
The civilised world will not allow him to succeed in the destruction and demise of a democratically functioning country on their doorstep.
Russia is a lost cause under the present regime and it will take decades to steer them away from isolationism and the belief that everyone is less worthy than themselves and therefore should be crushed.
I think we missed an immense opportunity when the USSR collapsed.
They cannot comprehend that their country is an absolute shit hole that no one really wants and was it not for their nuclear weapon(s) they would be considered a lying ,untrustworthy irrelevance and ignored by the civilised world .
I hope that there is some way out of this runaway train scenario and they are ostracised into oblivion for decades.
F\/ck them.

listened t them since I was 17 and "The Captain and Me " is easily one of my 5 desert Island discs .
Just recently I was watching Sky Arts channel and the first programme was the history of Jethro Tull and then the same featuring the Doobies.
JT , of whom I also listen to , were mired in infighting ,sudden departures , ego games etc. and it left a feeling of apathy between the former members interviewed
On the other hand the feeling of affection, humour  and support between the current and former members of the Brothers Doobie was a delight .

Log burners are selling like hot cakes here in Spain. More air pollution. Thank you Mr Putin.

The price of logs has gone up too.

On a similar note .
I have two large multi fuel stoves that we use extensively throughout winter .
I burn coal and seasoned logs in them and they heat the house well.
Last week I called my coal supplier to order twenty 40 kg bags . Last winter I was paying €22 per bag with discount for quantity this year my supplier has none in stock but will keep me twenty when he gets his first delivery if I pay € 46 per back up front .
This is bad but I will turn to burning logs, of which I have a steady supply , and oil but there are a considerable number of people in this area that have no other means of heating their old poorly insulated homes . This is exacerbated by the total ban of selling turf which has been, and is still is ,a fuel extensively used in SW Ireland .
The ingenious Irish have basically stuck two fingers up at their government and the EU and renamed turf / peat as " decorative Irish mud ...."which has stymied the authorities.
I cannot think of an example in my life when a commodity rose in price  and then returned to it's pre inflated level .
Our lifestyle is about to be changed for us ,forever .

There's an obvious reason why the Russian army has not been targeting civilians, as they are (in their view) liberating their fellow Russian-speaking people so want to avoid killing them.

On the other had, Ukraine has been shelling civilians in Donetsk. Yesterday, they killed 13 civilians including two children in western Donetsk. Today they shelled a bus near the central market in Donetsk, killing 5 civilians.

This news comes directly from a Canadian journalist, Eva K. Bartlett who is reporting from there.

I won't warn you that it is of a sensitive nature 'cause it's comedy at it's worst .
The bus is torn to shreds ,windows gone and metal grotesquely twisted by the huge    force of the blast . Injuries conspicuously on the hidden part of the intact bodies
BUT ....not a window scratched 5 metres behind it , no shrapnel damage to any of the shutters even the parasol and chairs are still standing and the crater looks like it was created by a pick axe rather than hand grenade at best.
I viewed a video of the aftermath of a hit on a bridge recently . The blast area was similar to the one in that parody I linked to and it showed the true effect of such a blast on a lorry with small remnants of various russian soldiers strewn all over the area in a less than tidy manner .
An abysmal attempt to keep the foolhardy on board ,but the russians will devour it as verifiable .

I had two of them .
The "carbon" was a flimsy plastic wrap that had the tendency to unwrap when subjected to being scratched with a ring.
I sold one and then removed the carbon finish from the other and then faux wood grained the hard plastic substrate to give me an Irmscher wood rim .
That must have been 14 years ago now  still on the car
