Omega General Help / Re: is my car dead
« on: 16 April 2010, 12:30:59 »
As you said, White smoke and overheats fast, that is the typical symptoms of a head gasket, but they dont normaly come on a V6. mayo in the oil filler cap is normal, do you do a lot of short trips?

is the oil on the dip stick discoloured?
do you have oil in the water? ( expasion tank )

you could try a compressions test to see if that gives a clue to what side might be fuba.

Omega General Help / Water Inside my car.
« on: 25 February 2010, 17:20:40 »
Hi guys, My problem is I have water inside my Car on the Drivers side front and rear foot room.
What are the main causes please?
My heater matrix is ok, and the windows are shut. there seems to be more water in the rear foot room. are there any plugs or such what could cause this?

Just had the same thing with mine but on the drivers side.
It was a seem under the boot just below the rear window on the wing. the boot was wet aswell. so i had to take all carpets and seats out to dry it off.

check to see if the carpet is wet in the boot.

A friend of mine rides a trials bike. He has been advised by other trials riders to drain the oil from his bike, then fill with the correct amount of DIESEL fuel run for a few minutes making sure not to rev/load the engine.

When he told me about this I was very sceptical.

Oh yes engine has to be hot through out the operation

What do think ?

DANGER  If you want to blow yourself and the car up then you can try it. But diesel burns under Presure so if you put that amount in your engine and start it I would not like to be in the near.
there is a lot of presure in the engine when running so dont do it.

Dont know about diesel engine but for my cars I do an oil and filter change and use 10w50 oil drive 300 / 400 miles and then another oil and filter change and use 10w40.
I,ve never had any problems and it gets the insides nice and clean.

That sounds more like the shocks are gone and not the springs mate.
if you push your car up and down does it whip?

Could be the wishbones, or a broken spring. check them to be on the safe side.

Omega General Help / Re: Tickover adjustment
« on: 25 March 2010, 15:27:22 »
It is normal for the 3.0 to tick over at 500 - 550 rmp without a/c on.
you might be able to alter the tick over on the gas cable ( if you have one ) I believe there is also a small screw there that you can move to alter it.

Have you cleaned your icv? ( if you have one.)
check that it is not pulling in any extra air, ie split or worn pipe.

Omega General Help / Re: Gearshift wobble?????
« on: 22 March 2010, 12:54:13 »
It could be one of your gearbox mounts or engine mounts, Better checking them all. but it should not wobble that much. It does move a bit but not very much.

Check all the wires first mate, it could be a fried wire.

13 O2 sensor 1 open circuit
89 O2 sensor 2 open circuit

I might be wrong but it looks like you have 2 knackered sensors.
other members will no doubt point you in the right direction.

Omega General Help / Re: Anyone changed the handbrake cable?
« on: 12 March 2010, 13:19:39 »
I changed mine about 6 month ago,
Clean the threaded bar on the hand breake leaver and use plenty of lube. Then take the cable off the wheel side's and push / pull it through to the front of the car.
you might have to loosen a couple of heat shields to get to the clamps that hold the cable but you dont have to take them off.
reverse procedure to put the new one back on.
as said the higher you can get the car the better and easyer it is. dont forget the axel stands.
