Headlight ECU does have diagnostics capability, and that will tell you what it thinks is wrong.

Thanks, I have to find a Tech2 then.

There are some from China for about £500, are they any good?

I know that the motors are OK and the sensors looks OK with cables and they haven't fallen apart as they some times do.

Anyway it isn't urgent, the inspection haven't complained yet but I want to have it working properly.

32
Before I take it all apart to adjust the position of the wiper blades what size Nyloc nut do I need?

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=117001.0

Isn't it enough to just take the wiper arms off and then put them back in the position you want?

When I do work that needs to take the wiper arms off, like removing the scuttle for better access, I put a piece of masking tape on the windshield to mark the position the wipers had when I removed them.

33
I guess it is at the other end of this cable?

Is the reason for this placement to keep it away from heat?

34
Ok, then I should find it. I did remove the headlight but couldn't see it from there.

This car had the airpump but previoius owners had removed the shocks and the leveling was out of order. I did remove the pump since it wasn't in use. I'll jack it up and take a look at it.

Thanks

My Xenon leveling isn't working, motors are OK and fuses too. So I suppose the control unit is wasted.
They are available on eBay as used so you never know if they are OK, but...

So I have tried to find it from advises here but there seems to be several suggestions on where it is mounted.
My car is a 2001 FaceLift.

Where can I find it?

Is it down at the foot well on the right side, where the central lock unit is placed?

I will provide pictures when I find it for others to see.

Thanks

Was the Evo 500 a rebadged Lotus Carlton, or is it a different beast? :-\

Great gesture though :y

It's a different beast, not as powerful since it had a normal aspirated 3.0L straight six. They had to make a minimum of 300 units to be able to race it in the German Saloon racing in the 90's (DTM). The actual number of produced cars are 321, some of them became saloon race cars but most were sold for the street. It had all the gadgets as the race cars with the moving rear wing that raised up from the trunk lid when the speed increased. See it as a special edition of the Omega 3000. Did they sell a Carlton 3000 in the UK?

Irmscher modified some of them with a 4.0L engine and some chassi tuning.

An update on my friendship with Klaus.

I mentioned that he has an EVO 500 but the radiator on it has cracked and he haven't been able to drive it for many years. Since the EVO's only were made in 321 units some special parts they have are almost impossible to find. One such item is the radiators, he has searched for a replacement since it cracked with no luck and he is sad that he can't take the EVO out on Autobahn for fun.

Here in Sweden we have a couple of EVO's and one of them is in show room condition. The owner that nice one show his car on the Swedish Opelgroup on Facebook sometimes. On one of those occasions I, just on chance, asked him if he know about any EVO radiators available. Imagine my surprise when he called me up and said that he had a used one for sale! This must be one of the rarest Omega parts ever!

The story is that he wanted a new radiator for his car and knew that they were impossible to find so he asked a radiator shop if they could fabricate one for him. Next surprise; he had one new in stock that some guy had ordered many years ago but never collected. So this guy of course bought it for his very nice EVO and could now sell the old one. What are the chances for that?

So I bought it for Klaus who is now waiting for me to come down to Germany with it. If it wasn't for Corona he would have had it now. We don't want to ship it for obvious reasons. But I do travel to Germany now and then and I will bring it to him as soon we can travel again.

He even had the original packaging for it.

Why did the fuse blow?

Probably because i poked around with the volt meter in the connector. Then when the manual said that fuse #15 was for the reverse lamps and that fuse wasn't blown I suspected something else.
All sorted now thanks to correct documentation.

39
It was the fuse that had broke.

Silly that the manual booklet says that it is fuse #15 for the reverse lights  (and a bunch of other stuff).

There is a bit of a difference in the electrics on Facelifts compared to earlier models.

On page 5081 (P50811) in the 2002 wiring diagram that was available for download a while ago I see that for Automatic transmissions there is a relay K161 that controls the Reverse lights. And the power that feeds the lights through a fuse to the relay is F9 (10A), might be that one that has broke, first thing to check.

Now I just have to find that relay  :-\

Springs for self levelling are softer as the shocks are designed to carry some of the weight.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear wheel bearing noise?
« on: 13 July 2020, 18:24:34 »
They usually wear on the inner balls where grit can sneak in and damage the balls. All of the ones I have changed had the same wear. The outer side is more protected.
I have never seen any movement, just noise. If you remove the drive axle and the brake disk you can spin it freely and then you will hear the noise from the bearing.

43
I think I have problems with the feed to my reverse lights. Checking at the connector coming to the lights I have no voltage there. Other lights are are working at the rear.

Is there a similar switch as on the manuals or is this controlled in some other way?

Thanks

In total there is 19 different rear springs for Omega Saloon and Estates, that number includes some special builds like armored and hearses.

Look here for the correct ones:

I have done several stints with my Omegas over the years, both of my currents ones have around 200k on the odometer.

First I do about 1000km down through Sweden and Denmark for a stay over around the Hamburg area. Then another 700 to 1000 km.
In Germany I let them fly on Autobahn and stretch their legs, remember they were built to cruise the Autobahn at 160 - 180 kph.

A previous one I had did  the same kind of trip when it had around 330k on the meter.

I keep them well maintained and have faith in them. One important thing is to have good tires if you are stretching out on Autobahn.

Enjoy your trip.
