Started it all this morning, engine flush, oil change, filter change! :y
And following forum advice carefully, got the plenum off, and cleaned the throttle bodies, breathers and plenum! :y
Put it all back together and it all seemed to work :)
Drove down the road, COOLENT LEVEL came up on the display :-?
Had forgot to put on the water pipes to the plenum :-[ :-[ ;D Water everywhere!
Filled up the water, made sure the pipes were back on, and, what a difference!
Would never have thought that a good cleaning and oil would make such a difference! :) :) ;)
I know it aint a big job for a lot of you guys, but for me it a small victory! If nothign falls off ;)
And I would have been well phucked if it hadnt have been for you lot and advice given, cheers. :y
But still stalling :(
And that long belt at the frount that goes roung the thats the cam belt right? Well a few of the little wheels it loops round are making an orible squeeking sound, like there dry of lube of somthing. Any ideas? :-/
-
when did it have the full cambelt kit changed?
-
Dunno to be honest, only had it a few weeks, buy no recipt for cambelt with the paperwork! Could be 5K ago, could be 55K ago! :-/

waiting for owen to post back a code 19.....

waiting for owen to post back a code 19.....
Thats not my favourite number today >:(
-
So if a code 19 comes up what is the problem then? :-?
Mine was very slightly missing at 500 rpm tick over, if i turned the air con on it would also cut out....
So I reckon mine could have been a mixture of things,
1/ plugs and Leads
2/ the ICV wanted cleaning out
3/ the air con needed filling, which allowed the pump to turn very slowly even when turned off

In that case, either do it or get it done straight away - make sure that it is the full kit which means belt, tension rollers and rollers. If your mileage is fairly high say 80K and above, then get the water pump changed as well. Broken tension roller means broken engine!!
Just stating this in case you do not already know!

Oh Fuk thats not good :o
If it goes I lose my engine :o
Should I drive the car?
And get the water pump changed as well, i know from what i have read on the forum that the cam belt and water pump are expensive jobs, and way beyond me mechanicaly and financialy!
fuk, fuk , fukety fuk!
Just when I thought it was all going well ::)

Cambelt kit £90
Water pump £25
Antifreeze £8
(all Tradeclub prices from dealer, and ex VAT)
DVD £3 from here, and loan a locking kit.
You can do this.
-
Can I still use the car as it is? Or would I be risking the belt snaping? Is there anyway at all to judge if the belt has been don or not?

Maybe others can judge better, but I would seriously consider changing it, then you know its done. BTW, its the tensioners that fail rather than the belt....

I think its more if the tensioner fails than the belt, I'd be inclined to do it for peace of mind.
I wouldn't use it myself as it could be more costly in the long run.
Just my opinion, good luck in getting it sorted :y

Right, gotcha! Well I cant do it so I guess the cars gonna have to sit there :(

Right, gotcha! Well I cant do it so I guess the cars gonna have to sit there :(
Is there no one in the area you could ask to help you do it.
I would offer but I have only done a couple of 2.0 cambelt kits, never a v6
I would say try get it to vx but they usually charge silly money.
Try this site http://www.kwikmech.co.uk/ I contacted him before I did my cambelt and he was going to charge me I think about £200 at the time for parts and fitting all genuine kit and red coolant for my 2.0, maybe worth contacting.
Might also be worth pm' ing jamesv6cdx as he has started to do these sorts of jobs on the side.
-
Thanks for that anyway! ;)
But i recon with Cambelt kit, water pump and cam sensor, funds lacking, might have to bite the bullet and sell it on. :-/

LOL, and I wouldn't trust the dealer in MK to pump the tyres up >:(

Your right there, I wouldnt trust Crownhill Vauxhall here in MK with a wheel barrow! Had dealings with them before!

Better not get my started on that lot, or Laidback66 will come along and ban me, just because the service manager there is a lying, incompetient tosser >:(

Hi Owen,
If you felt confident remving plenum etc to do the breathers, in my opinion you will be ok doing the cambelt (and when doing it the water pump is but 3 bolts and a whack with a mallet away ;)) esp if you have the dvd and even more especially if you have someone to help.
BTW when you topped up with water, did you mean 50/50 coolant.. otherwise over time you will be risking your oil cooler if its just water.
But if you're doing the water pump soon its all coming out anyway, so you can fill it up to the right mix then.
