Is there an easy way to remove the tray that the pollen filter sits in in order to gain better access to the area around the passenger scuttle drain to remove some surface rust and do preventative painting to avoid any possible corrosion holes there in the future?
There is no obvious way to do it, unless you have remove of the back of it first from behind the glove box?

It's one of the first assemblies fitted. Dash out for access to the fan housing. Remove that and then it should lift away.
If you have a breaker/parts car, smash, cut or otherwise remove it from the engine bay side to establish how it goes together.

Sounds a bit drastic! I think I'll keep to the 'skin off the back of the hand' method, but thanks anyway. Even in scrap yards, you often see where components have been butchered just to get to something else which, even on a breaker, is 'criminal' in my mind...
I do have a couple of breakers for parts, but I couldn't resort to smashing the assembly etc just as learning curve....!

It was a suggestion, same thing applies though as pulling the dash is a useful reference tool :y

Sadly, yours too is of an age that means it was put together by somebody doing the best they could with a random parts bin. Maybe a former owner got fed up with it coming off and found some bolts :D

My first choice was ten times the price, but the bolts weren't loose, unlike the screws. Or the owner :D
But at least it doesn't look like a squished Citroën C6...
