Disconnect their electricity supply.  Disconnect their gas supply (its a fossill fuel), don't permit them to buy coal (as if they would wwant to  :P) don't let them own a car, don't let them ...

Say hello to the middle ages.

Hello you nut munching tree huggers ..... You are living in cloud cookoo land !!!!!

So very, very miss informed.  Its such a shame, the costs of responding to such events could be better invested.

Booked a car through work last thing today.

Just had it delivered (21:00)

Needed to move it onto the drive, no handbook, bloke was quick to get the paper work done and get off.

There is a slot in the dash for the 'Key', which,  when inserted, gets you to ignition position 1 in my good old terms.

There is no obvious start button...

Eventually, having tried pushing all other buttons / foot pedals etc, I pushed the 'key' again.  A message appears :- 'push the break pedal to start'  Still need to work out if it needs to be in park or drive? But eventually got the engine started.

Then came the hand break  :-[

Releasing the hand break still leaves the light on the dash.  It releases it ready for you to drive away...but you need to know that.

I've had a couple of glasses of wine but I am left a bit bemused.  Where are we going with all this ???

So, not posted in a long time.  No longer have a 2.0l GLS, now have a Grand Cherokee (required to tow a German make of caravan),  I know the majority approve of caravans ::).  Still lurk around, its nice to keep up to date.

Having had an OOF trip round Drax Power Station, organised when I was contracting there and since I took a staff job at Rugeley Power Station,  I now am staff at Drax (Drax Power Limited) so if any one wants a repeat trip round ???

Relocating to North Yorkshire

Fixed rate with the HSBC

Significant redemption penalties for early re-settlement, but able to port...

BUT ONLY IF THE SALE AND PURCHASE ON THE SAME DAY

Bang my head

 >:( :( :o :-/ :'(

I have to pay the early redemption penalties when we complete on the sale.  I will only be refunded when we complete on the purchase!!!

No bridging loan, temp overdraught, or flexibility, nothing!

Thank god parents can bridge the lone (still need them being married, 36 with a 10 month old!),  the countries gone mad!

Tunnie, watch that throttle when you get a bike, wind the power on else you’ll be off.  Have a look at this, my mates racing team :-

Now what you really nead in a Jota!

(having tried to ride one and being a similar build to Tunnie....)

Any comments gratefully received...

Its only a 2.0l GLS buts its fully sorted and I think it will prove a sound car to bring our new family into the world.
p.s not been on for a while, settled in the new job at Rugeley.  Who wants a tour round then ??? (not quite as impressive as Drax though!)

Not everyone is staying the night but quite a few are.

I suggest that we meet at the Travel Inn and then car share to the station?

Alternatively if you want to go straight to the station, meet at the SOUTH gatehouse

Any questions, give me a shout.

OK, title in the style of Mr Mc. Burger thread but...

I didn't realise we had had a referendum about nuclear power :o

That’s not what the post is about though.

Stay with me...

Went to Drax power station today..

Will come on to that subject shortly,

Hire car - 1.8i SRi Vectra

Ohhhh...   Myyy...   Goddd...

First one I have driven/been in.

Not nice

Cabin layout - poor

Equipment level - poor

Build Quality - poor

Those indicators - whats that about?

Tyre noise at 70+  :o

Engine drumming noise at 3.5 rpm -  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Set off at 6:30am (with a cappuccino from a local garage).  Managed to get there in one go.

Left at 16:30, had to stop an hour later, just to stop the car and turn the engine off...

How can they have gone from the Omega (I have had two) and from the Vectra (I had one) to this thing???
It its the first time I have had been in / driven a new style Vectra, normally get Volvos/ BMs and Saabs (what a nice car by the way)

So surprised.

Any way, I'm going to need names and addresses very shortly.   Will post soon...

OK, MOT advice that there was an exhaust manifold leak and that the centre section was poor.  Chickened out of doing it myself + no time to even consider doing it so asked my local garage to have a look. Showed me under it and they were too afraid to even attempt taking anything off as the majority of the exhaust is like paper  :(

Everything from the down pipe, flexible coupling, CAT, centre section and rear box is knackered.

Quote of £620 followed :o  :'(  :(  >:(

Did some searches on the net :-

http://www.leisureshack.co.uk/vauxhall-exhausts.html

Full exhaust system including a ceramic CAT, with mounts, brackets and gaskets, everything,  £229

Really helpful chap, parts delivered to my local garage (half the price of their suppliers of Timax exhausts) within 24 hours.

All in all, very impressed.

Just thought I'd give them a mention.

Just a gentle nudge, We need to get the rooms booked as early as possible.  Believe it or not, it fills up rapidly (must all be contractors at Drax!)
