4 beeps when switching off
« on: 20 September 2012, 10:52:33 »

Recently, when pulling up on the drive and switching the engine off, I am noticing that there are 4 beeps from the engine bay even when I'm not depressing any buttons on the key.  Any idea what this could be please? ???

Power sounder batteries are failing.

Remove or replace power sounder ASAP, they have been known to burst into flames, with dramatic results ... car burnt out .. :(

Numerous threads on the power sounder, as well as an easy to follow guide.

New one from VX around £50-60 .. a used one is as dangerous as your old one as you have no idea of the internal condition.

Do NOT "put this off to another day" ... if you do nothing else remove the failing one and then think on replacement options.

^^^^^ what hes said.

Cant stress enough that you cant put this job off for another day. unless you dont mind waking up to find your car on fire.

Hi Guys,
I get the 4 beeps occasionally and looked at removing the power sounder. I am a little confused though. If you remove the ps, isn't this also the alarm siren?. When i set off the alarm i get a beep beep beep from a horn and a siren wailing. When i set off the ps I get just a beep beep beep from the other horn. If i disconnect/remove the ps, i will be losing the alarm siren correct? Will the alarm system still work?
         Regards,
                Ray

The alarm system will still work, what you loose is the siren when the battery is disconnected  :y

Hi Tunnie,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I don't have the siren now when i disconnect the battery, just the single horn sounding beep beep beep. Will I only have the single horn going beep beep beep as my alarm if i disconnect the ps?

Should not worry too much about the alarm, its sad to say no one wants to steal an Omega, worthless things, can't be sold for  decent money & too hard to steal because you can't be bothered to walk home.  :)

Me is very security conscious, so when i pull my ps out, i will plugging in the 'horn' so ive at least got something to listen out for, bloody toerags everywhere these days. I work hard and spend a lot of money to keep my car on the road, and i really hate all these do-gooders that dont give a monkeys if they smash up or try to steal someones, or my car. Society these days eh  >:(

Leaving the power sounder can lead to real issues as can be seen below;

?? powersounder only there to alarm if main battery disconnected.  Removing powersounder only removes this feature.  Main alarm horn is still connected and will still work provided car battery connected
