:D I am pleased to report that all done with no issues  :y

Battery tray looked nice and clean, but I treated to a spit and polish and like a new pin  :y

Bolt cleaned and greased up and 'nipped' up, not too tight.

She started like dream - Starter flew around fastest I recall.  Guess she has been struggling but I have not noticed/gotten use.

Only complex thing was remembering how to enter the CD Changer Security code.  I thought I was there having done the Radio one, only to be asked for the CD Changer one to !!!

All is well and working.

I am OOF for a celebratory cuppa  :y.

My money is on the holder bolt snapping.   :)

We've all been there!

I'll have my lunch then before tackling 'The Bolt'  :y

All on tenterhooks now  :D

Watch this space for update later  :y

What can go wrong ........

Charging new battery now before put on  :y

Went for Bosch S4 100 680CCA

Identical dimensions to original GM one and 72Ah rather than GM 66Ah  :D

Hi all,

Looking to put a new Bosch Battery on the old girl later (original 15 Year old GM was a bit empty yesterday  :'()

Reading Haynes, they say disconnect the Negative WITHIN 15 Seconds.

I assume this is correct and is all I need to worry about.

No need to reset anything (other than radio code which I have) when the new one is connected all up.

I have sprayed bolt and clamp holding battery in for last day or so as never been touched since came off production line !!! :y

What can go wrong !

And I would leave it on to ensure all seals are lubricated and pressure is maintained in the system  :y

Not makes much difference to fuel economy  ;) and ALL the difference if it goes wrong if not used and leaks due to lack of use  :o

I've got a new full set of new Uniroyal Rainsport 3 and they are fantastic.  A full 4 Wheel Geometry set up help by someone who knows their onions, or toe on, toe out, caster, camber and thrust angle  :y. Nigel langs Bolton it highly respected and recommended.

Yep diagnosis correct  :y

2 Speaker wires were broke completely, and I am convinced a bit shorter than the rest of the loom ?  Perhaps this is why there was tension on them and broke (assisted by the opening/close of the door !!)

A few other wires in there were not looking good to  :'(

All fixed for now.  :)

Hi,

Faulty Electric Headlight Level Motor Adjuster ?, or the manual screw adjustment ?

Motors I would expect can pick up off WWW ?  Not sure on manual adjusters.  I recall some mod somewhere as some of the plastic adjusters broke and you could replace with a metal adjuster kit ?  Unless I was dreaming that :D

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 TD A/C question.

Not sure on the TD Engine :(

V6's A/C Compressor Driven by Fan Belt.  Outside of compressor pully runs on the bent all the time with a clutch type mech which engages when A/C on and middle then spins.  Cant therefore remove that belt  :D, but appreciate it maybe different for the TD.

Can't you try getting a new 2nd hand compressor, fit and then take for pressure test, vac down and re-gas & refill with correct level of refrigerant ?

Quick google TD DENSO AIR CON COMPRESSOR under £100.

Somebody on here may have one  :y

Good Luck.

Managed to get one of eBay now.  Brand new vx one  :y

A MFL black one with chrome insert ???

May I ask how much ??

598
Later ones are secured by a screw at each end and then slide off...

Just to check, this is screw on outside and not inside vai removal of door card ?

599
No obvious screw from memory at the ends.

Would like.to keep her original.

Guess whole thing is thus stuck on  :'(

Where best to get LF strips then ?  Do these stick on ?

Would need to get them painted correct colour ( velvet or jungle green I believe).

Noticed the front lip of the external black door trim, the one in the rear door has rubbed with the drivers door when opened back door and its lifted the front corner of the strip.   >:(

I had a new strip fitted a few years ago, but I guess you can't get the MFL black ones now ??? (With the chrome strip).

How does the strip come off ?  As gentle heat I think should bend it back, but difficult to get back in with.  I recall somebody mentioning that the whole strip slides a fraction before pulling off ?????

Any advice welcome.

Andy.
