I know DVD's theoretically don't last forever, but if kept away from light and looked after they seem to be pretty good... and discs are very cheap now ...
:)

I had some DVD's fail spectacularly a few years ago :-[.  Trying to recover some pictures from DVD (entire 4.7GB worth) and DVD got so hot reading the files it melted both the DVD disc and burnt the DVD Drive out !!!  :'(

At least you have other backups so  :y

I have just got a WD My Cloud Mirror 4TB NAS Raid unit and its a great bit of kit.  I would certainly recommend one.

If in doubt, back it up  :y

I have new set Uniroyal rainsport 3's on mine and no complaints  :y. I think the full geo setup also helped  :D. Had goodyear eagle F1 GSD3's before them  :y

I hear good reports of these.......with the exception of poor mileage.

I only do 1000 miles a year so hope they last me  :y. So far I am impressed with them - must be that "Shark Skin" Technology  :D

Nigel Langs in Bolton is probably nearest who know how to do it.

:y. Yep, recommended  :y. Top guys.

I posted my geometry results on here somewhere as they give you a before and after print out.   :)

It's probably been put on here somewhere before, but I have a problem with the front o/s tyre wearing on the inside. Tyre only been on a year and scrubbed the inside down to the wire . would the lower wishbone bushes be the problem,  they seem ok but very weak.

Mine did this from NEW !

I treated her to a new set of wishbones (fitted by Daz  :y) and full Geometry setup (Nigel Langs in Bolton  :y) and she is straight and true now, feels like back on rails, and no abnormal wear or feathering on the tyres.  :y

I suspect car was never set right from Fritz when he built it ! ::)

Hum, I am a regular cyclist who commutes 40 miles a day to work AND I am also a motorist who also drives his Omega  :y so have a foot in both camps here.

I keep out the way of cars and obey the rules of the highway code if I am on 2 or 4 wheels.  That is what I would expect others to do but clearly there are Lycra MANIMAL louts who spoil it and give us considerate cyclists a bad name, but equality there are many motorists who give drivers a bad name.

If everybody just took a deep breath for a minute and respected and recognised each other then the world would be much pleasant place.

Lesson in stating the bleeding obvious noweth ends

I had a similar bloke right on my nearside rear wing with a searchlight LED lamp.
Everytime I braked. he was screaming at me to, "GO ON THEN" what the hell he was going on about I do not know;  the traffic was creepin along at walking pace. When we got to  a set of red lights he just rode straight thru >:(

Yep, that is EXACTLY the thing that really annoys me as a regular cyclist.

I always stop at the lights on my bike, and the funny thing is I always catch Lycra MANIMAL up again when they change to green again to their annoyance as I cruise along side their bike on mine !

It does bring a smile to my face as I than cruise past them and dissapear in the distance on my old commuting mountain bike (panniers and all !!) with them on their light weight carbon fangled things wondering why they can't keep up with the bike in front which is probably 3x the weight as well !!  Get up earlier dear boy and put some effort in !!! (cos next time I may be in my MIG rather than normally in the saddle :y )

Omega General Help / Re: Horse hair
« on: 09 January 2015, 23:12:30 »
A small word of advice (?) or perhaps just my bad luck ..

on the old 2.5 I had the same appearance of "hair" from the exhaust and, as several here have done, I pulled out all I could and continued driving as all seemed OK ....... it was for quite a few weeks ....  until one day doing a "shade" over 70 on the motorway the car suddenly lost all power - or so it seemed - (luckily it was late and there was no-one behind me) and a very rapid deceleration took place ...  few seconds later there was a bloody HUGE bang that shook the whole car (and nearly caused a "brown trouser" moment) followed by a "scraping" sound and the engine picked up to normal .... on pulling onto the hard shoulder and after a few deep breathes it was obvious that the centre box had completely disintegrated and the pipe was dragging on the floor !!

It seems that the collapsing of the internals and the shedding of the "horse hair" had eventually completely blocked the exhaust flow - leading to the loss of power - followed by the built up pressure literally blowingthe system apart !!

Funny in hindsight ... but if there had been something very close behind me, or traffic had seen me in the outer lane and not the inner one .... it "could" have all gotten painful ... AA relay got me home and a new exhaust fixed it ... but all I say is ... be aware that it "might" bite you in the bum ....  :(

Thanks for heads up.  Any change to engine or exhaust note and I shall get a complete new system fitted.  Looks like the Eternal clamshell ones appear popular and as close to the GM one I still have on the car after 10 years  :y

This happened to my back box on 2.6 I pulled out all the hair amazing how much came out. The car didnt sound any different so I run it now as is untill I need the whole centre section. It passed the mot in this condition

Same with mine last year after an "enthusiastic" launch from the lights !

6ft tail !  I cut it off as fsr up tail pipe as imcould and poked the small section back .

No change to engine and exhaust note and tail never come back.

Only with a grinder... ;D

Well could always run it without the back box , not that loud is it  ::) Anyway who do i order the exhaust from please ?  :-\

Funny you should say that, last Exhaust I had fitted on my MFL V6 was at the VX Stealers (2 middle and rear box).  I promptly went to collect when I was informed was ready !  On walking across car park I saw my car and noticed the Tail Pipe on them "New VX Exhausts" must be short as I could not see it   :o  On closer inspection I looked under the rear of my car to be greeted my two shiney middle section pipes looking at yer !  :D  and NO rear box  >:(  Surely it would have been a bit "Throaty"  when parking her !!!

I walked in and asked the service lady to "Come outside"  ;)  A suggested she look look under the rear of my car ( in the "very" short skirt aka Belt - not as I had noticed or the reason for making her look under the car  8)) and tell me what perhaps the issue may be !!!!!     Ooooh Sir was the reply !!!!!!  I had to wait another day as they did not have one in stock.

Did you not start it and give it a rev or two  :)

I was VERY tempted to start it and give a few revs whilst the "Lady" looked under the rear of my car  :D
