Omega General Help / Re: That's not right!!
« on: 31 May 2008, 15:21:27 »
Anyone got a quick link to a piccie of where this delightful sensor is?  Just been looking but there is nothing obviously adrift and to be quite honest I don't know what I'm looking for.

Omega General Help / That's not right!!
« on: 31 May 2008, 14:55:01 »
V6 has been running lumpy and a 'pre-test' ready for the MOT next week had it failing on emissions so thought I would give it some TLC.
Figured since I didn't know the history I would do the plugs as this is a really simple job right? Ha ha ha ha......
Got it stripped down enough to get at the plugs on the passenger side and it looks like the leads are not fully home although I don't have that magic clip thing that the manual shows for doing the job. Never mind I thought, put it back together and do the old paperclip test and see if that says anything....Yeah right....
Fit paperclip, ignition on...1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-9,1-9,1-9hang on a minute it's meant to be 3-1!  Start engine and watch again....1-2,1-2,1-2,1-9,1-9,1-9HELP
Anyone got any clues as to what I'm doing wrong, or alternatively what the fault with the engine might be?

Welcome aboard. I joined for much the same reason and have already saved a fortune from listening to the people who know how to do things.

Yep, another newbie without a clue. Worse still I don't even know the full info on the Omega I bought. Found the site when I was searching for answers on a problem I had and lo....everyone else gets it too, the ubiquitous ABS ECU fault.
All I can tell you about the car is that it is 1999 2.5 V6 CDX Automatic with 'all the fruit' as the guy selling it said. Oh, and it's been converted to LPG. That was the main reason for buying it as my previous car is to be chopped up into a trike (don't get me started there is a character limit on posts).
As I learn more about it I will update my profile, and once I have tidied it up I may even post a photo of it.

ps....where is the ABS ECU? Looked through all the info I can find but don't want to pull bits off without being sure it's the right one.

pps...yes I do know that little about it but it was seriously cheap. I paid less than the LPG kit is worth if I want to move it to a different car.

Hi James, if you can remember my 2.5V6 it is up for spares/repair as it has let me down while I'm working in Ireland (unless you fancy a working weekend away  ;D ;D ;D). It is free to collector once I have got my CDs etc out of it

25
If you are still looking, my 2.5V6 CDX Auto is free to collector....of course it is in Ireland so will need a trailer but it has had an LPG conversion and has "all the fruit". Wouldn't start a couple of weeks back and I don't have the skills/time/tools to fix it and it is not worth getting a garage to spend the time on it.
It is T Reg with 226,000 on the clock but is in very good nick internally and externally has the ususal rust bubbles on the rear doors and a signature dent/scratch on the bonnet where a muppet backed a trailer onto it.

Cars for Sale & wanted / Re: 2.5V6 CDX Auto up for grabs
« on: 14 April 2009, 22:01:30 »
Got no idea at all why it isn't running....may well be something simple but I have absolutely no tools with me and I am being hassled by the other half to reduce my car count (currently three).
It was running fine when I got back to my flat in the evening but in the morning it just span without firing. The local mechanic has had a go with his diagnostics and replaced the crank sensor and cam sensor (which seems logical but then what do I know). He was getting sparks after swapping out the sensors but still not firing even after putting in a little extra petrol just in case. He is trying to keep the costs down for me but it has already reached 200 euros and I don't want to spend any more.
Any OOF'er with some time/tools/expertise could probably get another few years running out of it but I don't have any of those and have to have transport hence I'm popping back home this weekend to bring over the Emina to use to get to work etc.
If someone is able to come along and collect it they can have it, simple as that (once I have my CD's etc out) and they can even keep the PAYG SIM card in the phone.

More details will be added but my miggie is now available to anyone that wants it. It was going fine but a few days back it wouldn't start, turned over fine but not firing. It has been checked locally by a mechanic who followed the diagnostics and replaced the crank sensor with no joy. He also fitted a new cam sensor and could confirm it was now sparking but still not firing. I have no tools/skils here to do any work myself and it is just not worth spending money on so is available to anyone that wants it and can fetch it.
OK, now the downside....I am in Slane, County Meath in Ireland which will cut down my target audience a tad.
Car has been LPG'd (85 Litre cylinder tank) and was running fine and other than some rust bubbles on the rear passenger doors by the window rubbers in in pretty good nick (oh yeah, there is also a lovely dent/scrape on the bonnet ). Even had the phone working with an Irish PAYG SIM card.
Am travelling back to the UK next weekend (18th April) to drive over my horrible diesel Emina bus thingy since I have to have transport and if I haven't been able to post before then I will setup a link to pictures.

Alternatively if OOF want to have a 'rescue Leomas' party then I can provide camping space for about 100 tents in the grounds of Slane Mill and will even setup a BBQ..... ;D ;D

Line from a song by Katie Melua......'if a black man is a racist is it wrong'....and to say nothing of the total shambles when Jade (not that I ever particularly liked her) used the word black person despite it being in common usage when one black person sings about another, especially in 'rap' or whatever today's young people are calling it.
We have fallen into the trap of not just legalising positive discrimination but almost making it compulsory as you have described above. We have got to the position in Britain where is is against the law to use a person's race, religion or sexual orientation to act in a way they perceive to be negative towards them and before long we will have a case where possession of a copy of Mel Smith and Peter Cook's infamous 'Islington one legged black lesbian single mother synchronised swim team' sketch for comic relief will see you carted off to the British equivalent of Gitmo.

Hmm  seems the filter on here won't allow that word but I'm sure you all get the drift.

Chip and PIN was introduced to move the liability from the card issuer to the card holder since the only way it could now be used would be in the cardholder's presence. It is not so bad if they fiddle your card abroad and you can show you were not in that country, but if someone uses a clone of your card in your local Tesco just try to get the money back from that one.
Just don't get me started on that Verified by Visa one either ........ mutter mutter millenium hand and shrimp
